No injuries, ever.   :)

Short-Term Running Goals:

Qualify for Boston (4:05 for my age/gender) - or, perhaps, to use my desire for a BQ as a way to get in the hated speed work so I don't just get slower and slower over the years.  This goal is "under (re)construction" right now, until I figure out whether it is truly what I want. :)

Long-Term Running Goals:

To continue learning about myself and about running, and to enjoy being a fit, happy runner for life.   To always know why I am running and the best way to get the most (both mentally and physically) out of my runs.  To keep a sense of humor and remain optimistic about myself as a runner.  To enjoy running more and more with every passing year.

Personal:

Baby boomer generation.  Jogged a little in my 20's and 30's.  Started running seriously in 2002.  Low-carb runner since January 2010.

I love long runs and cold, cloudy weather.  I don't believe in "junk miles."  I am an optimist.  I adore dark chocolate, fog, my family, and knitting -- not necessarily in that order.

"As every runner knows, running is about more than just putting one foot in front of the other; it is about our lifestyle and who we are."  -- Joan Benoit Samuelson

40F, mostly clear, extreme wind: 20-30 mph w/ gusts to 45. Wind chill 29F.  Core and pushups.

On a family vacation last summer, we were talking to a guy in Eastern Washington who was familiar with our neighborhood. He looked at us and said, "Y'all don't look like you weigh enough to live there."  Today was one of those days when it seemed like he was right.  I got blown all over the sidewalk, and frequently found one foot blowing into the other leg in its journey forward.  Running into the wind was a lot like being on the treadmill: run, run, run but don't go anywhere.  Oh well, at least it's dry!

I was going to be jealous of your temperature, but then I read about your wind. I think I'll keep me cold over your wind. I'm glad you made it home safely and didn't get blown to Oz.

Oh but Oz would be so much fun right now. All the bright techni color!! I would love it over my gray world. LOL

Glad you were able to make it home through all the wind Sno!

Yesterday the wind made one of my feet hit the other and I almost fell on my face. It was worse today so I just hit the tread.

Running in this weather will definitely help the mental aspect of your marathoning! Excellent work!!

I wonder if you really ran 10 miles b/c of the treadmill like effects!

Stay on the ground! You are getting more wind than we are; nice change for me! Ridge Runner is right; it can't possibly do anything but help your marathon mindset.

You guys get a lot of weather in those parts!

Nice miles!

A-Em, It's because of S. Ridge being situated up high in a direct path west from the Pass. When we've had a high pressure system (no rain) for a couple of days and then a low pressure system comes through, the air traveling from Eastern WA through that pass just blasts us. Even a couple miles west of here, in Preston, there was almost no wind yesterday, while we were getting up to 50 mph blasts.

Just what you wanted, a weather lecture, right? lol
