Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

One Week to Boston and my grand-daughter's and her mommy's birthday - April 18!!!

A week from now I will be sitting on an air mattress in the Athlete Village at Hopkinton soaking in the pre-race atmosphere, waiting for the F16s to fly overhead before heading to my corral!

Hope the weather will be as nice as today, sunny blue sky and a bit cool.  Had a nice chatty run with Wendy (she did 4), and Karen (did 5); then 2 by myself.  The right knee was a bit sore the first couple miles.  Forgot to take my inhaler yesterday and this morning; so was wheezing a bit during the run.   I think Karen is SO READY for her first marathon as she was feeling antsy and wish the race was today instead of Sat.  How I wish I could be there to cheer her in.  :)

Forgot to take the Symbicort again this morning; and the smokey air from Spring Open Burn made the asthma worse!!!  By the time I made it home, I was a wheezing mess!!!

It was a broken up 7 miler.  Ran with Wendy to Karen's where she set up the refurbished Garmin 301 Lowell sent her.  It was taking too long to acquire the signal, so we left it on the lawn and ran up to Bull River and back for 3 miles.  The Garmin was still trying to acquire signal; so I rebooted it for her.  It took couple minutes to find the location (which had been hundreds of miles from the last location) and acquired the signal.  We then ran the 1 mile to my house to see if the Garmin works.  Somehow it showed that we ran 0.98 in 7:14...NO WAY!!!  So we reset it and ran 1.25 mile back to her house which showed our AP at 9:48.  Then I ran home.  It was a fun run getting Karen all psyched up for SLC and *peer-pressured* Wendy to sign up for SGM! :)

Going to get a hair cut this afternoon, run some errands, then clean house and set up beds and bedding for my out of states family members coming to the Wedding & mission Farewell next weekend!  We're going to beautify my neighbor's yard this evening.  The dad/husband has terminal brain cancer.  They are leaving this morning for Spring Break vacation.  Hope they will be happily surprised! :) :) :) :) :)

EZ taper run w/ some mp thrown in.  Aside from the arid smokey air, it was perfect day for running outside!  Ran into Karen walking/jogging with Sky and her two youngest daughters.  She is SO ready for Sat. marathon!!! :) :) :)

Really like how light and fast the Elixir feels.  But I can tell it definitely works my anterior tibialis more.  So I will stick with the old trusty Inspire for Boston; and train more on the Elixir this summer!

A LONG day!  MarcieN, hubby and I flew to Boston on a red-eye Friday night arriving around lunch time on Sat.  Our hotel room wasn't ready so we went to lunch at this brand new Italian eatery, Vapiano across the street before heading over to the Expo.

It was windy and cold.  Saw Ryan Hall at the Expo.  Met Lowell and TJ.  Bought some Adidas Boston clothes...the bright wasabi green is kinda different but beginning to wear on me.  Also bought a fuel belt to hold race bib, gels, inhaler, etc.  Went back to the hotel, this year we got the 18th floor.  Tried out the new clothes and played with the fuel belt to see if I like wearing it on Monday.

Met the gang (Marcie, Rhett, Doone, Kathie, James, Terry Omura and his family) in the lobby at 6pm.  AmberG and her sil, Amanda, Kam and his family joined us.  We walked 2 blocks to the Empire Garden for dinner while Larry, Slick and Ronnie (Hillbilly) stayed behind to wait for Lito (Bobcat).  I made reservation for two tables.  We were later joined by RattleTrap and his family of 4 for a total 24 people.

So fun to eat and visit with everybody.  There is much excitement anticipating a great race day weather with many possible PRs to be had!  It was nice meeting Kam and RattleTrap in person.

For some reason I could not sleep.  I had so much on my mind and was strangely nervous.

Another highlight of the day was when I got text messages and picture of Karen's Salt Lake City Marathon's result.  She ran it in 4:09:xx!!!  WOW!!!!  That is so AWESOME!!!  Karen and I have trained together this whole Fall and Winter.  She is so dedicated!  She is a GREAT runner!  I will not be surprised if she BQ at SGM this year! :) :) :) :)  I am SO HAPPY and EXCITED for her!!!
