Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

One Week to Boston and my grand-daughter's and her mommy's birthday - April 18!!!

A week from now I will be sitting on an air mattress in the Athlete Village at Hopkinton soaking in the pre-race atmosphere, waiting for the F16s to fly overhead before heading to my corral!

Hope the weather will be as nice as today, sunny blue sky and a bit cool.  Had a nice chatty run with Wendy (she did 4), and Karen (did 5); then 2 by myself.  The right knee was a bit sore the first couple miles.  Forgot to take my inhaler yesterday and this morning; so was wheezing a bit during the run.   I think Karen is SO READY for her first marathon as she was feeling antsy and wish the race was today instead of Sat.  How I wish I could be there to cheer her in.  :)

She will do GREAT! I'm excited to see how she does as well. You need to convince her to start her blog on the day she does the full- starting with a BANG! :) Either that or you will have to re-cap for us afterward.

I'm so impressed with how well you are handling all of this crazyiness! Boston just one week away and you are SO ready, despite everything anyone has tried to throw at you. I hope you have a wonderful time!!

I can picture you giggling, running back and forth to the POPs, chatting, getting your pic taken, etc. I am SO excited for you! :)

What time do you think Karen will be running in. I really really really want to see her but have promised Annie to run the last 6.2 miles with her. I am afraid that these times are in conflict with each other. :(

I can't believe it is only a week away, but I'm ready to be on vacation!

Smoothness. Saturday was so great! I just love when we can run together. I listen to your quick small steps and just fall right into line. I hope you have a wonderful taper week. I hope you are filled with good energy for the race and for all the good things coming your way in the next few weeks. Be good, be happy, enjoy Boston for all of us (take pictures!!). I'll be working on my hamstring while you're away so we can run again another day (and yes, the many hills of Edgemont, Rock Canyon, and Provo Canyon do not make them happy). I agree, Karen is going to rock her first marathon. She is ready and the fact that she's anxious for it is a GREAT sign. Anyway Smoothie, here's to you. We all love you so much and hope you have another good experience in Boston. I will definitely be thinking of you all weekend and next Monday. Big hug!!

I Can't wait to see you in a few days! What time are you landing? James and I might try and meet you at the airport.

Wow Smooth!! I can't believe you have asthma now and here you are just doing your usual!!! Good Luck in Boston!! What a fun week ahead of you : D!!

Rachel ~ Good thinking! She said she felt inadequate to get on the blog! I will convince her so she can post her first race report with a BANG!!!

I feel like I'm on a roller-coaster ride! May be I'll be normal come July! :)

Rhett ~ Yes, I need to think of Boston as a vacation. It is for Larry and really we celebrate our Anniversary in Boston. This year will be our 33rd! I can taste the clam chowder and lobster already! :)

SSF ~ I am going to miss you terribly at Boston. We had so much fun riding the bus to Hopkinton. Do you remember last year we opened the pop door while a guy was still in it? :D And the marathonfoto people kept taking our pics. Lowell was IMPOSSIBLE to find?!!! We had so much fun!!!

I am confident that Karen has the ability to run a 4 hour marathon if she is focused. She said she wants to enjoy her first marathon and not worry about time. She PR'd by 4 min in Painter's from Snow Canyon 1/2 and both were around 2 hr. I will not be surprised if she comes in 4:05-4:10. I told her you will be there. I hope you get to see her on the course! LLL LLL LLL LLL

Leslie ~ THANKS! Good luck to you too at Red Mountains! :)

Maynard ~ Hopkinton is where's at...the pre-race party is LOUD and CROWD!!!

Luz ~ THANK YOU for all the kind sweet words! Yes, I will be good, be happy and enjoy! I will miss you and think of you while I eat Chinese dim sum and when I run by Wellesley where someone had a sign cheering you last year. I wish I had your last year's bib# though...seriously the luckiest numbers! :)

And I can't wait to run with you in Provo Canyon and have our girls talk! :) :) :)

Kathie ~ Marcie, Larry and I are arriving on Delta from JFK at 9:48 am. That will be so cool if we see you at Logan Internal and go check in our hotel at the same time! :) :) :)

Are you having fun and enjoying the sights and good eats at Boston? Is it raining there now?

Julie ~ Thanks for the well wishes! This asthma thing really threw me in a loop. I need to remember to take the stupid inhaler. I am hecking away as I type, my ribs are going to be sore. This week will be CRAZY!!! I have so much to do to get ready for wedding, mission, not to mention a marathon prior to that...yikes! :)
