Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

WINTER is upon us.  Look at the SNOW out there.  I remember the joy of running on fresh fallen snow in Jan this year.  However, this morning the snow plow hasn't come yet and there are so much early morning traffic.  So, it's onto the treadmill I ran AGAIN.  Decide to do a stamina workout.

9 miles steady-state run in 1:19:40.  Average pace: 8:50

Splits: 10:00, 9:22, 8:57, the next 6 miles in 8:34.

Feels pretty good throughout the run, never winded, can't wait to run a long one outside on Sat.

More remodeling work today...repair, sand, tape before hubby gets home.  May be yoga tonight...if the boss and I get the painting and clean up done.

Good run smooth....8:34 for 6 miles is SWEET!!! Are you running painters this year?

From Smooth on Wed, Nov 05, 2008 at 13:41:15

Hi Kimmy, SO GOOD to hear from you again. YES, I am running Painter's. I haven't registered yet. Have you?

From Kathie on Wed, Nov 05, 2008 at 13:42:17

You are so fast smooth! Like Kimmy

said "8:34 for 6 miles is SWEET!!!" You can read on my blog where I had a hard time staying at that pace for 2.5 miles.

From huans32 on Wed, Nov 05, 2008 at 13:48:05

Wow Smooth you are cruising along well. I did love seeing the snow. I love a good run in the fresh snow too. But dont want the ice.

From JeffC on Wed, Nov 05, 2008 at 13:54:35

Awesome run Smooth! Nice to get it in before another long day of remodeling.

From Smooth on Wed, Nov 05, 2008 at 13:59:20

Kathie --

Thanks! Maybe my treadmill is slower. There's no way I could sustain 8:34 for that long on the road. I get distracted or lazy.

Mark --

Me neither, black ice and snow plow drivers are scary.

Smooth...I heard on the radio that it was snowing and I expected to look out the window and see a ton of snow. I guess you all got it down there. In fact, when I got up this morning, it was nice and sunny. Good job getting it done on the treadmill. Wow, 21.5 miles in three days. Good job.

From Kimmy on Wed, Nov 05, 2008 at 14:33:05

Smooth...Kathie, Cristy and I are all signed up for painters....Hope to see you there and maybe we can run together.

From Smooth on Wed, Nov 05, 2008 at 18:50:56

Kimmy -- I better sign up quick. It'd be AWESOME if I can run with you and your sisters...at least for some of the miles. You girls are WAY SPEEDY!!!

From Smooth on Wed, Nov 05, 2008 at 18:53:32

Dale -- There are at least 6" of snow on my lawn and roof. It is SO PRETTY. I wanna get up early to run tomorrow. Winter running can be so serene. K, got to get back to painting.

9 miles in the snow. that's hard core! good for you!

From Smooth on Wed, Nov 05, 2008 at 19:10:50

Cal -- Nope, I wimped out...it was on the treadmill. I love running in the snow though, just not the wind, the black ice or agressive snow plows. I am all for SAFE running.

From Cal on Wed, Nov 05, 2008 at 19:12:25

Did i say snow???? i meant to say 'on the treadmill!'

From Kelli on Wed, Nov 05, 2008 at 21:23:33

GREAT miles on the treadmill. I can barely bust out 5 (my all time high is 6 on a treadmill, but I only did it once)!! Even now, I have to break up the run in to two segments just to do 4.5!! Good girl you!!

We get all of the snow, but it never sticks out here. OR the wind blows it away. we do get a lovely view of the mountains on the east side, though.

From marion on Wed, Nov 05, 2008 at 21:55:13

WOW!!! How do you do that on the treadmill! Those snow plows scare me too! Rockin' pace!!!

From Teena on Wed, Nov 05, 2008 at 23:42:30

Smoothie!!

Check out you and your mileage this week!! I want to be you ... tell me what I need to do!! (But does that mean I need to like the snow??)

Leaving for SG tomorrow!! (Wish you were going to be there.)

Love you.
