Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Good run Smooth! Mine was kinda the same. Tough starting, muscles were tight the whole way, but did get easier as the miles clicked off.

Good job, not long until we will be in SG!!!!! :-)

From Teena on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 12:21:34 from 67.177.20.13

Hey there Smooth!!!

I'm glad you survived your weekend. But would you PLEASE get some rest!!! You didn't run a B and BLD -- if that were true you would have been PAID which you were NOT!!! You seriously do so much for so many! I admire you!

Please get some rest ... please, please, please.

I love you! Have a GREAT week!!! :)

From Teena on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 12:21:49 from 67.177.20.13

STINK!!! Jon beat me!!! I wanted to be first again!!!!

From Rhett on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 12:41:08 from 74.41.249.102

Nice miles Smooth. Way to start the week. Your youngest is going to be a senior this year, right? Is excited to get started next week?

From RivertonPaul on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 12:51:20 from 67.42.27.114

Nice job on a Monday.

From LuzyLew on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 12:53:16 from 208.187.197.42

I hear ya on the back to busy. Slow, enjoyable envening runs (2 miles only) help me get the crazy out (if I've got a few extra minutes late in the evening). Great run and work out. Let me know how that hotel thing goes. Good luck getting through the week!

From Smooth on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 14:44:20 from 71.36.77.96

Jon,

Yep, 50+ days 'till SGM! Monday run is like that...but good recovery run though.

Teena,

I barely survived the weekend. B & BLD duty goes for another week...no rest for the weary. I will survive. LLL LLL LLL

Rhett,

Yep, the caboose is excited to start his senior year. He has 2-a-day football this week. Pre-season game is this Friday. 1st pre-region game is next Fri and I'll have to miss it b/c of PCM. I can't believe how fast the kids grow up!

Paul,

THANKS! Monday's always a tough start for me.

Luzy,

HI! So good to hear from you! Welcome back to "busy" home life. I could never fit an evening run in. This week with the out of town guests staying at my house, it's impossible.

From leslie peterson on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 14:52:11 from 76.23.61.78

Holy cow, St. George is in 50 plus days, maybe I better start running!!!! Park City is going to be a walk/run for me, I wish I had more mojo, it's coming, but way too slow!! I need to have your energy rub off on me. Glad the B &B is empty for now! Take a well needed rest!

From Smooth on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 14:58:41 from 71.36.77.96

Leslie,

The B & B is NOT empty. It just got started on Sat. and will continue this week till Sat. NO rest for the weary.

Oh ya, guess what, after they leave, I get to host a Primary Board dinner party the same evening at my house. That was planned and moved and planned and moved. With summer coming to an end, we couldn't move it any more.

Park City will be a training run with benefits for me. Can you believe how fast SGM is approaching. It will be a good one, I hope, well, I'm sure it will be a fantastic run.

From leslie peterson on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 15:09:11 from 76.23.61.78

Smooth you do it all!!!!! Oh my gosh, I am such a slacker! I guess being the wife of Pres. Smooth you have to be on top of your game 24/7. You are amazing, you make me tired. Okay, enjoy your company, I thought they were gone. I am off to Costco and the Sunflower market, my mission today is to make fresh pesto and do a wholewheat pizza crust with a chicken veggie pesto topping.

From Smooth on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 15:20:05 from 71.36.77.96

Ooooh, Les, can I come over for a slice or your "mission"? That sounds SO SO SO delicious!

From JohnnyV on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 16:19:02 from 204.124.13.151

Great run. Hope you survive the company.

From Kathie on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 16:35:46 from 207.155.176.10

Nice run it is always good to get faster at the end.

From JulieC on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 17:44:48 from 71.32.226.154

Okay Smooth, your abs/core must be steel like. Amazing that you have the strength to do them after running just about every day. I am a wimp!! I have yet to do an ab workout that I can do more than once biannually. Totally Awesome Woman You Are.

From Bec on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 18:15:44 from 67.177.35.60

Take care of all of those lovely people staying at your house Smoothie. You deserve to live in a hotel, that is all I have to say!

Great Monday run by the way. You are on your way to a SGM PR! Way to keep focused.

From Rhett on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 18:27:35 from 74.36.34.147

Smooth, what position does your son play? 2 a days can be brutal

From Smooth on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 18:38:01 from 71.36.77.96

He plays wide receiver on the offense and running back on the defense. He came home today with a bruised right shoulder and his left wrist (old injury) was all taped up. He ate like a horse then napped all afternoon. I don't get why he loves football so much. He's always all banged up!

From Teena on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 18:40:00 from 67.177.20.13

Oh Smoothie ... are you listening to yourself???

You are a riot!!!!

(Why would someone love something so much when it keeps causing so much pain, injury, tiredness, hunger, etc? Go figure!)

Like mother like son!

From Smooth on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 18:43:39 from 71.36.77.96

AgAaah! Teena, Look who's talking?

From Smooth on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 18:46:03 from 71.36.77.96

Johnny,

Hope I survive the company too.

Bec,

You're so nice to call them lovely!

From Smooth on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 18:48:13 from 71.36.77.96

Kathie,

Thanks! I'm dreading tomorrow's workout though.

Julie,

Whatever! If I run half as fast as you, I wouldn't need to do any core workout.

No, I do not have abs of steel. They are jello, cottage cheese and stretchmarky.

From Teena on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 18:49:10 from 67.177.20.13

What do you expect? We are soul sistahs!

From Rhett on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 19:02:59 from 74.36.34.147

He must be fast if he plays wide receiver...just like his mom.

From DonGardinero on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 19:43:03 from 152.216.7.5

Very nice run today, Smoothie

From Nancy on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 21:22:38 from 76.27.11.127

So were your visitors family or friends? I had my daughter and her 5 kids here for 2 days last week. It was very noisy and messy, but I really enjoyed the visit. It sounds like you do it all.

From Smooth on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 23:16:21 from 71.36.77.96

Nancy,

No, he's my husband's former mission companion. The adults are his wife, daughter, son-in-law, son and the two grandchildren. They are basically having a family reunion/vacation in my house. Go figure!

I would love to have my own married children and grandchildren visit. They live too far away and too poor to pay for airfare. So I get to go visit them.

From RAD on Tue, Aug 11, 2009 at 00:15:00 from 76.27.12.70

Smooth, you are so amazing. I'm glad you got a good run in...get all those demons out :) Have a good week, and take it easy...or push it even harder whatever works best!

From Snoqualmie Ridge Runner on Tue, Aug 11, 2009 at 00:21:41 from 67.185.148.81

Holy Cow Smooth One! 27 comments...you ARE one of the popular kids here and for good reason!

Dale ~ THANKS! How's your knee feeling today?

Rachel ~ I'm trying! My sanity is being pushed to the limit.

Jefferey ~ You're too funny! I'll keep on truck'n and hope you're doing the same!

Dale,

Kimmy,

YAY! I'm so happy to hear that your whole family will be there. I can hardly wait to see you, your sisters and your darling mom. IT'S GONNA BE SO FUN and AWESOME PARTY!!!

My neighbor, Wendy and her family, plus a couple of "1/2 marathon virgins" and friends will be there too. I better register today!
