Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Karen picked me up to meet RAD, ScottW, Chad, Maynard and Annette at 7 at the JRP.  The river was very high and calm.  Thanks to Chad guiding us around Willow Park to avoid the flooded tunnel under Center St.  and the FUN chats, the miles flew by.  Saw a deer, lots of birds (a Falcon?), a remote control airplane and a snake freaked RAD majorly when Maynard pointed it out to her! Ha!!!  Good thing I was too blind to notice!  :)  Knee bugged here and there during warm up and at the end.

THANKS Rachel for the invite and everyone for coming; you're AWESOME company!!!  I wouldn't have run this many miles and not nearly as FUN if it weren't for y'all! :) :) :) :)

I'm sure Maynard will never point out a snake to me again! :) I now wish I was blind enough to not see it - blech!

I had a wonderful morning with you as always and I too enjoyed the great chats and just plain getting my legs moving again!

For some reason, my eyes are just drawn to little things like snakes on a trail. There was this one time though that I didn't see one until I almost stepped on it and I screamed like a little girl. Fortunately there were no witnesses.

Hey Scott ~ It was nice to finally meet you! I totally LOVE the way you run, such quiet quiet feet, easy smooth fluid strides. I seriously want to run like you! THANK YOU for coming!

Hope your training for Wasatch 100 continues to go well and your archilles behaves! :)

Nice job at UVM!! We stayed behind to cheer for you. I would've tried to find you after to say hi, but my kids were already bored so we headed home. The excitement really rubs off on you. We were wishing we had just stayed with it and even walked it if we had to.

From Smooth on Wed, Jun 22, 2011 at 01:33:05 from 72.214.129.235

Kirsten ~ THANKS for waiting around to cheer me in! That is a long time to wait especially for your kids!!! I hear ya on the excitement rubbing off! For TOU the last two years I waited at the mouth of the canyon and ran friends to the finish and then wish I had run the whole thing but I also know that I would be miserable if I had run the full! So when/what is your next race! You mentioned doing a tri. GOOD LUCK to your daughter's swim meet this Sat.

Allie ~ soon you will be doing group runs! Meanwhile enjoy the biking! How's that air cast treating you?
