Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

FUN FUN FUN run with three beautiful friends!!! MANY THANKS to Toby for the invite and for packing our drinks!!!  :)  MUCHO thanks to RAD for the fun chats!!! :)

Drove Karen to the PRT where we met Toby and RAD at 6:30am.  The PRT is perfect for a 12 miler, just the right amount of rollers and up/downgrade, and beautiful vista of the valley in the base of Traverse Mountain!!! Weather was GREAT!  The company were SUPERB!!!!  What else can a girl ask for?!!! Except may be time for breakfast afterwards! :)

********

The knee is still bugging!  I am not fully recovered from Ogden.  I will do some serious rolling and stretching this week; tape up the darn knee and hope I finish UVM upright!  But I will have FUN and find JOY!!!  The journey and friendships, the joy and pain in overcoming my limitations and weaknesses is why I run; and the marathon facilitates that beautifully!!!  :) :) :)

Good run smooth. Hey, where can I get a good foam roller? Seems like I've heard you mention something about this on your blog before.

Hi there Bec ~ O man, we would have loved to have you there on Sat. What's your next race? Going over to check on your blog now!

From Bec on Mon, Jun 06, 2011 at 00:38:38 from 174.52.182.34

UVM!!! I have not blogged this month but I have put the miles in. Sadly, I don't remember any of my workouts but I know I have done them.

From Teena Marie on Mon, Jun 06, 2011 at 00:45:19 from 67.2.101.26

SSF~

If you would like I could work on your knee Thursday evening or Friday. I have a presentation on Tuesday and two tests Thursday (scared to death), but after 5:00 p.m. I should be good. :)

From Smooth on Mon, Jun 06, 2011 at 00:52:07 from 67.2.107.37

Bec ~ COOL!!! Hope to see you at the start! :)

SSF ~ Thanks for the offer!!! You are super busy! I do not want to impose.

GOOD LUCK with your presentation and the tests! I am certain you will do GREAT!!!

From Steam8 on Mon, Jun 06, 2011 at 01:00:01 from 166.70.55.77

Good luck next week. I ran that last year. I am still trying to recover from SL marathon in April. I am glad I didn't sign up for it again...I'd be out 80 bucks!

From Teena Marie on Mon, Jun 06, 2011 at 01:04:03 from 67.2.101.26

SSF~

You are not imposing!!! :)

I feel bad that I don't have any time before then. I really wish I did. :( We should have had you come over today. STINK! Seriously though, I would be more than happy to do what I can to help you Thursday evening and/or Friday. Just say the word. I want to! :) :) :)

From Smooth on Mon, Jun 06, 2011 at 01:04:53 from 67.2.107.37

Steam8 ~ THANKS!!! CONGRATZ on your BQ at SLC in April! Yes, you are smart not to have signed up for UVM. Looks like you are recovering well though. I'm sure you'll be back to your speedy self in no time! :)

From Smooth on Mon, Jun 06, 2011 at 01:07:56 from 67.2.107.37

Oh SSF ~ You are too kind! Please don't feel bad! I will be okay! I am going to roll it out, take it easy this week, and tape it up on Friday.

Are you going to the luncheon on Fri.?

From Teena Marie on Mon, Jun 06, 2011 at 01:11:55 from 67.2.101.26

I am going to try and make it Friday. I really hope I can. It's my understanding that Lowell is going to be there as well. Is that right? :) :) :)

And SSF, I KNOW you will be okay. You are the toughest woman I know. However, if I can be of even a little bit of help I would love that. Even if you just want me to tape you. Either way, I really hope to see you on Friday. :) :) :)

From Smooth on Mon, Jun 06, 2011 at 01:13:54 from 67.2.107.37

Yes, I emailed Lowell and he is trying to make it. Sure hope to see you there! :) :) :)

From Teena Marie on Mon, Jun 06, 2011 at 01:26:54 from 67.2.101.26

Keeping my fingers crossed!!! :)

Love you. I am going to go get ready for bed.

May the bed bugs kiss you. :)

G'night SSF! Sweet dreams!!! :)

From RAD on Mon, Jun 06, 2011 at 01:36:11 from 98.202.17.113

I had such a wonderful run Saturday and I can walk and the hip flexor feels better than ever (well, the last 4 weeks anyway) so I must attribute it all to you! :)

I always have such a great time running with you and I forget about nearly everything other than just the fact I'm having a good time. Thanks!

I hope you really do take care of that knee (do I need to send Helga over?) and that the UVM course is kind to you and you finish not only upright, but well! Thanks again for a great Saturday run, oh and next time we MUST schedule in breakfast. I drove past Kneaders on the way home (thanks for the new route!) and I was thinking we should stop and do all you can eat french toast!! Yummy!! :)

Hope Lowell makes it Friday too! Will you PM me info about Terry if you know any? I've been out of the loop since Ogden.

From Smooth on Mon, Jun 06, 2011 at 12:04:49 from 67.2.107.37

Rachel ~ Thank YOU!!!! You gave me too much credit! It is always a pleasure to run with you! I am so happy that your hip flexor is behaving! :) :) :)

And YES, next time we definitely need to schedule in breakfast! That just means we'll have to start our run earlier. Wait, what time does Kneader open?

Hopefully Lowell makes it so we can get the troo poop on Terry! See ya on Friday! :)

From Kelli on Mon, Jun 06, 2011 at 13:30:57 from 71.219.96.115

They moved the Herriman Town Days festivities up by a few weeks, it is usually the end of June. BUT it is this weekend so we will be there. I am not running the 5k, but my kids are so I have to support them! I will miss you though!

NEXT YEAR!
