Run happy and healthy all the days of my life. Be an example and inspiration to my family.

Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Andy said VO2 max workout shouldn't scare me, "when it starts to get uncomfortable, it's time for rest".  He also says running fast feels good.  I tried to remember that during today's workout.

3 miles warm up:  9:46, 9:12, 9:00

6 x 1200m @ 5K race pace w/ 400m RI.  5:36 (2:28), 5:38 (2:29), 5:39 (2:31), 5:40 (2:31), 5:32 (2:25), 5:28 (2:31)

3 miles warm down: 8:41, 8:18, 8:38

I seriously don't know how to run intervals.  I always go out too fast on the first set; then worry about not being able to finish the workout; and then die on the last set gasping for air and seeing stars******!!!  Why do people like to torture themselves like that???  Cool down @ mp felt really good though! :)

Those are speedy intervals. Great workout today. Also some big miles too.

What do you mean you do not know how to run intervals? You ran them perfectly. The first 4 were very consistent and I'm guessing you felt good so ran the last 2 faster. Great workout today.

Hey if Andy says that you did them right you must have. Did you do this workout on the track?

Running fast feels good? VO2 not scary? That is proof some people are just made differently. WAy to push throgh a tough work out (all 12 miles!!). Wow.

Callie and jun ~ THANKS! I tried to beat the storm. :)

Rachel ~ Can't wait 'till taper!

Andy ~ I kept thinking about what would Andy do...his splits would be exactly the same! The last two almost killed me.

Mack ~ THANKS!

Kathie ~ I like the track. It's springy and the distance is precise. I had to run clockwise during the warm up and cool down though to save my left ITB from the turns.

Luzy ~ I told myself to just get it over with then I can run slow and easy the rest of the week! :)

Awesome workout Smooth! Nice 1200's. I can't wait to hear how well you do in Boston. You are killing it on mileage.

From Nancy on Wed, Mar 10, 2010 at 07:51:33 from 76.27.19.206

Great job with such a hard workout. For some reason I can't run fast anymore. I would have died on the first interval.
