Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Quads were a little sore this morning.  Must be from all that sitting around yesterday.  Ran 6 EZ recovery miles in 52:55.  AP: 8:48.  Scrubbed the shower and vacuum the floors.  Legs felt much better.  Looking forward to tomorrow's long run.  It might be a wet one.  I'll take that over wind or blizzard.  Need something fun for date night.  Hmm...

*** I almost forgot.  It's my oldest child's birthday today.  I better give her a call.  I can't believe my baby girl is 30!!!

If vacuuming and scrubbing the shower helps your legs feel better, I better get off the computer and get cleaning! Great 'easy run' this morning! 8:48 is a great pace. I'm hoping to keep an 8:30 tomorrow for the 16. If I can hang with you I know I'll do it, your such a strong runner!!! Cant wait to see you tomorrow.

From Smooth on Fri, Feb 06, 2009 at 15:47:24

Oh Rachel, you're a much stronger runner than me and FAST too. No, I won't be running any 8:30 pace tomorrow. I have 16 with 12 at marathon pace which is around 9. I hope I can do it.

Smooth - I guess I need to clean too my legs are killing me!

We are having game night again this week but not at my house so on second thought I think I will be lazy and not clean. :)

Date night??? Hummmm... I am so boring, I love the movies and dinner.

Congratulations on the 30 year old! :D

From Kelli on Fri, Feb 06, 2009 at 17:03:45

I can not believe that either, you do not even look 30!!!

See you tomorrow, rain or shine. I will bring and umbrella.

From leslie on Fri, Feb 06, 2009 at 17:34:52

Have fun tomorrow! I will be thinking of you guys, I wish I was up for it, but I am not. I am feeling pretty old and crippled today!

Happy Birthday little Smooth from Leslie!

From Rachel on Fri, Feb 06, 2009 at 18:05:49

Kelli - will you bring one of those 'hat umbrellas'? I always have such a hard time holding mine when I run.

Smooth, you're so funny! If you're bustin 9 mm up suncrest you are definately WAY beyond me. You're good at keeping on a training pace, I just go with the wind-or whoever I'm trying to talk to :)

From rhett on Sat, Feb 07, 2009 at 11:36:34

Smooth, looks like a perfect recovery run to prepare for your long run. I hope your long run goes well and you don't get too wet.

Okay kiddo, any day now..... I am anxious to hear how your Lehi run went!!!
