74F, 92%.  7:23 AP.  Ran from the hotel in Gainesville again, but solo this time.  Just ran whatever I felt like doing, distance and pace-wise.

All caught up on my last few entries now, and back in OK.  I took today off as I was way behind on sleep with all the travel, and pretty tired.  I'll survive.

67F, 90%.  Back in Elgin for this one.  7:20 AP was faster than my usual Tuesday run but I was working out a solution to something that ticked me off at work last week.  I always tend to run faster when doing that.  Think I have it figured out though.

Doing my "slow tempo" tomorrow, the one between HMP and MP.

68F, ESE 10 mph, t-storms, raining the whole time.  6:52 AP.  I had to really think about whether or not I was going to run this morning as it looked pretty bad out there, but I'm glad I did because I got in a good tempo run AND did not get struck by lightning.

I did 5 ez, followed by 6 @ TT (target 6:37).  For the easy miles I did short out-and-backs from my house to make sure the lightning wasn't too close.  It was at least a few miles away the whole time.

6 tempo miles:  6:29 AP - 6:39, 6:33, 6:24, 6:32, 6:25, 6:19.

Finished with plenty of gas in the tank; at least as much as the last time I did this run which was at a slower pace and only 5.5 miles.  I think the rain actually helped me stay cool and helped my pace despite the waterlogged shoes.  Next time it rains in a race, I'm going to shed the shirt (even the orange shirt) like I did today and let the rain cool me off.

70F, ENE 15 mph.  Back to the track today, this time just for speed.  I did 4 x 600m at 3k-5k pace with 200m active recoveries, then 6 x 200m at mile pace or better (200m active recoveries as well).

The 600s were 5:38 AP:  2:05, 2:05, 2:08, 2:06. (recoveries averaged 65 sec)

The 200s averaged 38.5.

I started at a dumb spot on the track and finished every repeat I did into a wall of headwind around the curve...didn't do myself any favors there, I probably should have thought that through a little better!  But I hit the paces I was after so all's well that ends well.

When I got to the track, there was a lady there walking in lane 1, texting on her cell phone. That was a first for me. Lane 1 is where she would stay the whole time too.

After the workout, finished with the brutal "cooldown" from the track back up to my house.  It is only about 100' net uphill (a bit over 3 miles) but has some nasty steep climbs - the last thing I want to do after a track session.  I normally like my cooldowns to be around 0.01 miles and include some lying down.
