6 @ 8:11 AP in racing flats.  I'm working my way up in distance with them; if there continues to be no pain or ill-effects, I think I will try to use them in the HM in a couple weeks.

Hi Turbo Joe,

I bought some racing flats too. I haven't gotten my confidence up enough to use them except on the treadmill. I plan to use them when I race 5K's. They are Brooks Racers ST 5. I really like the way they feel but don't want to take a chance on hurting my feet on a longer run with them.

Also, I wanted to ask you if you've already registered for the OK Marathon.

Yeah, I ran 2 miles, then 3, now 6. Might try them on tempo tuesday next week and see what happens first.

I haven't registered for OKC yet - the price goes up on April 1st, so I'll probably wait until juuuust before that in case I get injured or something comes up at work.

I'm about 99% sure I'm going to OK too. I'll probably wait a couple of weeks to register. I tried to find some information about the course but it doesn't seem to be published yet. I'm real curious to see what it is. I'm assuming it will be farily flat...that's what I'm hoping for!

IJR - There will be hills. It's not a flat course. Unless they are changing it drastically from last year, but I think they may just be changing the start line. I could be wrong though.

What....I thought all of OK was FLAT...!

From SlowJoe on Fri, Mar 04, 2011 at 11:56:02 from 131.59.200.82

it's definitely not completely flat, but probably has a lot smaller hills than the central TX hill country. Last year they published an elevation chart but it didn't quite do it justice (the hills surprised me). There will be a lot less elevation change than Austin though.

WhoooHooo...that's what I'm talking about!

From SlowJoe'sGrl on Fri, Mar 04, 2011 at 12:28:37 from 184.79.24.255

One of them was called something like Gorilla Hill...just sayin. But, it is less than Austin overall.

Okay...I take the Whooo back, but I'll leave the Hooo!

I like racing flats for 10K and under. I am definitely not to the point where I am confident enough in them for a half or a marathon. My calves were SORE after I did long runs in them!

From SlowJoe on Sat, Mar 05, 2011 at 10:50:46 from 184.79.24.255

April - yeah I definitely need to test them out a bit more...so far so good.
