46F.  11 @ 7:10 AP.  Included 7 x 1/2 mile reps, 60-sec jog recoveries.  Averaged 2:59 (3:06, 3:01, 2:55, 2:57, 3:01, 2:58, 2:55).  Felt ok, kinda meh.

It always feels haphazard and random to do these anywhere but the track.  Unfortunately, I was booted from the HS track by a school district cop back in September for being there on a school day, so no track on weekdays anymore.  I never understood what was so suspicious to him about a middle-aged shirtless guy roaming around school grounds at 4:55am... Yep, he was a weirdo.

I can see them not letting you run on the track while school is in session, but who cares at 5am?! Why was that guy even awake at that hour?

The best part was when he told me I needed to go to the office and get a visitors pass to be there. Since they're obviously there at 5am...

It seemed to be of little consolation to him when I said I'd been doing this for years.

A good rust buster. These sessions never feel great after a long hard effort.

I guess I am pretty lucky. In Indiana we got kicked off the Purdue track once but we really weren't supposed to be there and they were setting up for a meet. I never had a issue at West Lafayette High (were Purdue is). Jefferson High track was impossible. Locked like Fort Knox.

In Philadelphia I run on the track whenever I dang well please, which is pretty nice. I don't do it during sporting events just out of my overwhelming sense of community. You guys know how I like to get up early! I think I did my 2 mile repeat session around the rich kids back in October and that was around 10:30.

This post got overly long #avoidinggrading

Joe, when I was in GA, I contacted the athletic director at the school and received permission ... perhaps you could do that ... nice speed work

Jason, FRB is a great time waster! But yeah, this was my 2nd time to be booted off a track. The other time it was under construction and the guy was worried my sweat would affect the surface. #wth

JG - I never thought about going the legal/legit route. Great idea. I've even been out there when their track/XC team is there, and the coaches don't mind and have actually complimented me.
