AM:  77F, 83%.  6 @ 8:05 AP, included some pickups.  My weight vs mileage chart is looking better lately.  My goal is to keep miles per week above the red dotted line and avg weight below the blue dotted line.

It was tough to see the relationship since I stopped running for a couple weeks in March, and ran Boston in April which kinda botched the trendlines.  So below is a simple linear regression - you can better see the inverse relationship between mileage and weight:

Interesting charts. I don't think I'll ever see 145. I'm curious if you have an ideal race weight? And if so, how did you come up with that number?

Although I wasn't tracking weight on the blog at the time, I think I was about 144 for Boston 2013 (still weighed myself but never recorded it). At that weight, I no longer could grab a handful of lard around my belly, just little pinches. So that is what I (unscientifically) use as my benchmark. I think it takes me 75-80 mpw to get there, so I'm fine with 146 for the summer.

It's even less scientific for me. I think "I ran really well at xx race. The weight I had then is my goal race weight." If I have a BMI of 24, well then maybe I should attempt to lose more.

Actually, I just re-read what you wrote, and it is exactly the same level of scientific-ed-ness-ocity. I guess I was more focused on the in depth "handful of lard" analysis. Sorry.

Exactly - I'm sure it would be possible to "lean out" a lot lower, but then you'd have to only eat healthy food. That's one step I'm not willing to take no matter what the table says!

I don't have any charts, but I am pretty sure if I ran at least 10 miles per week & lost 10 pounds I would be a whole lot closer to where I need to be!

on second thought though, the colors are actually fitting for this week.
