80F, low wind, direct sun.  7:50 avg.  Went a little longer in the Kinvaras today - they still feel good.  I made a pathetic attempt at a couple tempo-paced miles on the way home, and pulled the plug pretty early in the second mile.  Some of the reason was laziness but it was tough to get going, maybe too hot for me to do any speed.  I am starting to think this is not even a heat wave anymore; it might just be the new reality for the next couple of months.  I'm still focused on base-building anyway, but I hate to see myself get lazy and never push myself.

I'm thinking it might be hotter over there than it is here.

Or maybe we're a bunch of wooses here in Texas...Sorry Joe, maybe I'm only speaking for myself :-)

Burt - you got me curious so I checked, but I think you still win for Most Miserable Summer on the blog. I think Mike and I mighta had the title last year though.

IJR - Not just you, my entry today could be titled "Wuss."

From I Just Run on Tue, Jun 28, 2011 at 12:01:43 from 67.79.11.242

I was wondering what the right spelling of that word was. I may have to be using it a lot in the next few months

:-)

You and Mike are awesome. America thanks you. Except the hippies.

Who the heck is Mike?

From JG on Tue, Jun 28, 2011 at 13:51:15 from 98.66.250.214

There is little in your training log that resembles laziness! Good run as always!!

Blasphemy! Mike is on Joe's Favorite's List. Check him out. He's quite possibly the most awesome blogger EVER!

From I Just Run on Tue, Jun 28, 2011 at 14:48:34 from 67.79.11.242

Ya know.... I'm going to open my mouth and get kicked off the Blog one of these days...!!!! That MIKE...I should have known :-)

All I saw last week were cow patties! I was always jumping around to avoid them. I love small towns and wished I lived in one. I like running along side cows and horses.

You are probably still recovering from that 22 miler in the crazy Texas heat!

From seeaprilrun on Tue, Jun 28, 2011 at 18:17:23 from 174.70.177.86

The heat is brutal for speed. I just don't see myself doing tempo work in temps over 85, or at 4:30 in the morning when the temps might be under 80, so I'm thinking it's just not the season for fast stuff. You could use the ...treadmill...every now and then if you wanted. I know..it defies my purist running spirit as well. Anyways, awesome pace in heat! It counts and it's doing wonders for your fitness even if it doesn't feel like it.

From Tracy on Tue, Jun 28, 2011 at 18:39:00 from 173.24.38.54

I'm with JG; I don't think there's anything lazy about that run either!

From JG on Wed, Jun 29, 2011 at 00:21:53 from 98.66.250.214

Joe, Can you please look into to the weather forecast for Jonas Ridge, NC for me on July 16? :)

From I Just Run on Wed, Jun 29, 2011 at 00:40:31 from 166.205.13.122

Hey Joe,

Can you look into the weather for Effingham, Illinois for next week? I'm going to be there for a few days on vacation. Thanks...:-)

From Colby Park on Wed, Jun 29, 2011 at 08:48:17 from 139.139.35.70

Hey Joe, I just read your 3hr Summer Solstice run...nice job given that heat...I can only imagine!

I would like to be put in for contention in the worst summer of the year. I don't think we'll win it here in Viceza, but we may get an honorable mention. 95-100 degrees with close to 100% humidity...no good!

From I Just Run on Wed, Jun 29, 2011 at 10:03:31 from 67.79.11.242

Hi Colby,

I think it was last year we had 65-70 days over 100 degrees and the humidity is alway high here in central Texas ... I don't think you stand a chance. Joe has the heat but the humidity is typically a lot less.

From SlowJoe on Wed, Jun 29, 2011 at 10:51:24 from 132.3.53.68

IJR - Mike was actually the first blogger I ever met in real life...in Iraq of all places.

JG - thanks, I still feel slow and lazy when I run though. As far as your weather, I refer you to weather.com when you're 10 days out!

S8 - you would like running here - the couws are tough, they really stare you down.

April - I'm hoping you're right and I don't get too soft running 8 minute miles all summer. At least you are getting in some awesome TM workouts (can't make myself go there).

Tracy - thanks, I guess just running consistently is not too bad a feat.

Colby - You are definitely in contention with that humidity thrown in....yuck! The summer solstice thing was memorable, for sure.
