What the hey, let's make it a race report...  I got to my test early and did 4 warmup miles.  Then started the test - there are 4 components: a waist measurement, # pushups in a minute, # situps in a minute, and a 1.5 mile run.

I got max points on waist, pushups, and situps.  I hit 57 (max points) pushups with about 15 seconds to go, and 54 situps (max) with about 10 seconds to spare.  Then I needed just a 9:34 on the 1.5 mile run to get a perfect score, but my goal was to break 9:00.  Jogged about a half-mile to the start line...  My quarter-mile splits for the run:

1:25

1:30 (2:55)

1:31 (4:26)

1:31 (5:57...mile PR)

1:32 (7:29)

1:24 (8:53!)

woohoo!  I've actually never broken a 6-minute mile before, so this is a pretty nice result.

Wow! I was just reading yesterday's goal report, so it wasn't much of a cliffhanger.

You impress me, sir.

From Kelli on Wed, Mar 30, 2011 at 13:27:20 from 71.219.97.85

HOLY CRAP!!! That is one heck of a fast mile and a half. And a nice little mile PR in there! Incredible.

What was this test for?

From seeaprilrun on Wed, Mar 30, 2011 at 20:18:47 from 72.205.227.203

Sweet! I bet it's awesome to crack that 6:00 barrier and I'm sure you impressed some folks! The whole "Slowjoe" thing just isn't gonna fly anymore.

From SlowJoe on Wed, Mar 30, 2011 at 20:26:11 from 184.79.24.255

Tracy - thank you ma'am!

Kelli - it's a regular thing (every 6 mo - 1 yr) the Air Force does to make sure everyone stays in shape.

April - Yeah I could tell there weren't any other runners in our group taking the test, I was by myself. I gotta stay Slowjoe for motivation though!

From SlowJoe'sGrl on Wed, Mar 30, 2011 at 20:33:49 from 184.79.24.255

You forgot to mention your jersey you got to wear over your clothes. You should have asked to keep it, so you could try it out for the next race.

From Kelli on Wed, Mar 30, 2011 at 22:26:12 from 71.219.97.85

Very Good, I wish they would do that for cops!!! My husband is trying, but the fat/lazy/out of shape cops (with seniority) always fight him on it and win.

I agree, no more SLOWJOE.

From flatlander on Thu, Mar 31, 2011 at 09:43:48 from 76.31.26.153

You're in Burt's league now. He also ran a sub-6 mile a few weeks ago. For me, maybe someday (sigh).

From SlowJoe on Thu, Mar 31, 2011 at 10:30:55 from 131.59.200.80

Kelli - I always passionately hated the test until I started running, so I can see where the old fat cops are coming from, but your husband is right; it definitely makes sense that you'd need to stay in shape.

Flat - Training for marathons we never have to go that fast. But I bet if you ever went to the track to do an all out mile, you could do it.

From Burt on Thu, Mar 31, 2011 at 21:16:19 from 206.19.214.144

Mark - Joe is way out of my league. Just a fool to believe I have anything he needs. He's like the wind.

From Tracy on Thu, Mar 31, 2011 at 21:17:33 from 173.23.75.249

He leads you to moonlight only to burn you with the sun.

From Burt on Thu, Mar 31, 2011 at 21:19:32 from 206.19.214.144

He's breaking my heart, but he doesn't know what he's done.

From Tracy on Thu, Mar 31, 2011 at 21:22:27 from 173.23.75.249

Patrick Swayze. How we miss you.

From Tracy on Thu, Mar 31, 2011 at 21:22:38 from 173.23.75.249

Or how Burt misses you.

From Burt on Thu, Mar 31, 2011 at 21:24:21 from 206.19.214.144

I do. But not as much as Hans and Frans do.

Let's take a vote....

Turbo Joe

or

Slow Joe

Which should it be.....?

From Burt on Fri, Apr 01, 2011 at 10:40:20 from 72.223.90.79

Joe Uncool.

From Burt on Fri, Apr 01, 2011 at 10:46:54 from 72.223.90.79

Dang it! You are cool! I'm just jealous.

From SlowJoe'sGrl on Fri, Apr 01, 2011 at 11:33:08 from 184.79.24.255

I like Joe Uncool, but then I'd have to change mine to joeUncool'sGrl, and that would imply that I am uncool, which is definitely not true.

From flatlander on Fri, Apr 01, 2011 at 13:11:14 from 198.207.244.102

Joe, thanks for the kind words, I'm afraid to try, probably injure myself. As for the nickname, we definitely need to stay away from Uncool, for Danielle's sake.

From Kelli on Fri, Apr 01, 2011 at 13:27:41 from 71.219.97.85

freakin' fast joe???
