64F, 50%.  14 miles this morning, including my first workout of 2016.  I warmed up for a little over an hour at a moderate clip, then 8 x 800m, 200m active recoveries (60-70 sec).  Averaged 2:58.4 (3:00, 3:01, 3:00, 3:00, 3:01, 2:57, 2:56, 2:51).

Pretty decent first workout, definitely did not expect any better.  Just hoped that it wouldn't be awful, and that box was checked.  Maybe another month of consistency to go before I'm the old slowjoe again (just in time for summer) but this was a good first step.

You have bounced back so quickly. Are tou SURE you didn't do anything, cross training wise, in your time off? Great run, Joe.

Very nice - and I agree, quick bounce back! We both did the classic warm up.

The old rule of thumb is that if you get in your first workout of the year before St Patrick's Day, you are guaranteed a PR in the Fall.

Thanks all - was off 6 weeks and this is my 5th week back running, so the ol' 1:1 time off rule of thumb may not be too far off. Thank god I got it in before st paddys though, didn't know how critical that was.

I missed it, and with Easter being early, there's no way I'll get one in before that deadline either. Guess I'll have to shoot for my birthday and hope I can buck the trend.

Good workout, Joe. Like the progression.
