Good runs are NEVER a fluke. Bad runs are. Your real potential is in the good runs or you wouldn't have pulled it off in the first place!

Thanks, that's kinda what I thought too - it just surprised me...now I just need cold weather and calm wind every day.

Ha...looking at your 5K and Half-marathon times, they are almost exactly what mine are. I guess I can expect about a 3:25 Marathon based on this comparrison. I think that would be a BQ time for me (in my age catagory)! I think I'll make that a new goal. See...Slow Joe how you are inspiring others (me) in your training and progress...Thanks

Sounds like a good goal, got a full marathon picked out?

Also, don't know if you've seen this, but there's a calculator out there (http://www.mcmillanrunning.com/mcmillanrunningcalculator.htm) that works really well. Just put in the time for your "best" race or run (for me, it's actually the 5-mile tempo run I did on Tuesday) and it spits out what you should be able to do in all other races (under similar conditions). It's surprisingly accurate, and I use it all the time to decide what my goals should be.

Thanks Slow Joe,

I looked at the website...interesting...based on the calculations I could qualify with a whole 17 seconds to sprare...think I should keep training for a while to build a larger cushion. Thanks for the info.I don't have a clue what race I'll run to qualify for Boston...If you pick one out, let me know and I might just come run it with you.

Ha - yeah same here, let me know if you find a fast one. I'm running Oklahoma City on May 1st, mostly for experience...I can't imagine the temperature will be conducive to running your best potential marathon (it's windy there too). I'll give you another link, not sure if you're looking to get in a marathon before summer (when it's way too hot) but this is a pretty good search tool: http://www.runningintheusa.com/Race/List.aspx?Rank=Upcoming&Special=marathon&State=TX&Page=1

Hummm...Oklahoma...I have very good friends who live near Oklahoma City...? What is your BQ time (based on your age catagory)? Do you plan to qualify at this race?

From I Just Run on Thu, Feb 24, 2011 at 17:03:20 from 67.79.11.242

Plus...that's 10 days before my birthday, I'd still be 50...!

From SlowJoe on Thu, Feb 24, 2011 at 17:10:57 from 98.200.237.200

My BQ time is 3:10, I don't have a shot (the times are supposed to all drop by 5 minutes soon, anyway). Just kind of want to get in another marathon before racing season is over.

I ran the half marathon last year at OKC and it was awesome. Really a great experience, in remembrance of the attack on the federal building, which is right by the start/finish line.

I wonder if you qualify do you have to go the same year...or does that qualify you for a longer period of time? I guess I could not be lazy, and do some research.
