Had my MRI and the message on my phone said I pretty much had everything...stress fracture, edema, tendinitis, tendon tear, ligament damage...  Really?  Not a doctor reading the MRI, so we'll see.  I'm probably screwed though.

The foot specialist isn't available until Wednesday next week, so I'll see him then, but I'm starting to accept that ibuprofen isn't gonna get me through this one.  Cross-training regiment might be for real this time!

Dang...sounds like an encouraging voicemail. Did they say "Have a nice day!" at the end? Sorry to hear that, hopefully they're wrong or you'll heal quicker than (insert weird Texas phrase).

Ah that sucks... but at least they gave you enough red flags over the phone to keep you from doing anything stupid b/w now and when you see the specialist and making it any worse.

Sorry about that Joe. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Have you read a book by Matt Fitzgerald called "Run: The Mind-Body Method of Running By Feel"? There's a chapter called "The Gift of Injury" that you might want to read.

From Tom Slick on Thu, Jan 14, 2016 at 15:37:38 from 107.34.242.196

say it ain't so Joe! Can you say "RICE", cause it sounds like your gunna need a lot of it along with some time in a swimming pool recovering from this one. Don't try to cut the process short or you'll pay for it with a relapse!

And with a schedule like you've posted you need to recover fully before you take a step on the field of battle in one of those mega mile meat grinders. So get after gettin' better.....

I definitely have a hitch in my gitalong (that was the official Texan diagnosis, which implies all those other things).

Rob - thanks, sounds intriguing, especially the "gift" of injury... I haven't been granted that gift in 5+ years of running...at least not for the length of time this one is likely to take..

From Tom K on Thu, Jan 14, 2016 at 18:39:49 from 174.58.54.215

That is an impressive list of ailments. "tendon tear, ligament damage... halitosis, webbed feet, bacne, cankles, foamy discharge, Ridiculitis, cradle cap,..." It's amazing you can still get to work everyday.

The timing of this just stinks. Sorry, Joe.

booo. really sorry, joe.

From Jason D on Thu, Jan 14, 2016 at 20:15:55 from 68.80.27.222

Sorry, Joe. I think it's a good idea to cross train if you can and it is recommended. I usually drink my bitter tears until I heal up but I always kick myself for not cross training.

Ah dang it Joe. You know they make ibuprofen in bigger pills right?

Seriously hope you get better news from the actual doc and recovery is quick.

From SlowJoe on Thu, Jan 14, 2016 at 21:09:29 from 107.77.72.128

Russ, I just listened to it again and she did say "have a good day" at the end!

I wish I could figure out how to post a voicemail on FRB bc it actually is kinda funny...in a sick way.

Dang Joe, Sorry to hear this. You'll get through it and come out stronger.
