AM - 34F, 10 @ 7:46 AP.  Probably 80-90% cured from that cold.  Tomorrow will be a short workout with  2-3 miles @ HMP, and that's probably it for quality, other than some strides.  Definitely a recovery-focused week, hoping to run a good race on Sunday.

PM - 49F, 4 @ 8:10 AP.

I think you're ready. What's your goal?

From SlowJoe on Tue, Jan 08, 2013 at 08:04:48 from 155.219.241.10

A-goal is 1:22:59. B-goal would just be a PR of any kind.

From Bam on Tue, Jan 08, 2013 at 08:48:42 from 89.126.28.24

Good news that you're on the mend. Looking at some of the sessions you've done recently, you sghould be good for taking a chunk off your pr. Take it easy this week and you'll fly...

From Neil on Tue, Jan 08, 2013 at 10:02:50 from 164.165.24.5

Good luck on Sunday. I admire your year-round dedication. BTW, your profile pic makes me very uncomfortable. I can almost feel your daughters' suspicion and resentment oozing out of the photo. ;)

From Bec on Tue, Jan 08, 2013 at 10:56:57 from 72.191.19.182

Glad are on the mend. I agree with Neil, I admire your year round determination (or since I have followed your blog). I hope you PR this Sunday, your workouts prove that you are always working hard.

From SlowJoe on Tue, Jan 08, 2013 at 11:46:16 from 155.219.241.10

Thanks all.

Neil - it's partially my fault. One time, on the way to Chuck E Cheese, I told them (jokingly) they better not argue or fight with each other or ChuckE would nibble their face off. One of my finer parenting moments. Anyway they are terrified of him now, and I'm sure any other freakish characters.

From Neil on Tue, Jan 08, 2013 at 11:50:19 from 164.165.24.5

HAHAHA! I knew there had to be a backstory.

From Tom K on Tue, Jan 08, 2013 at 11:52:35 from 71.228.90.171

I checked out the race website. It does look like a good course for a PR.

Lemon lime Gatorade is yuck! Would that stuff exist if there were no races?

I propose that the fate of the Santa Cow picture be tied into your race performance somehow.

From SlowJoe on Tue, Jan 08, 2013 at 12:00:18 from 155.219.241.10

Tom, yeah Houston is as flat as it gets. I guess I can pirate a race pic if I run a 1:22:xx. Otherwise, Santa Cow stays.

From Tom K on Tue, Jan 08, 2013 at 12:09:15 from 71.228.90.171

Now, that's what I'm talking about! The stakes (steaks?) are high for Santa Cow! ....Sorry, again.

From Matt Schreiber on Tue, Jan 08, 2013 at 15:33:10 from 66.17.102.185

Perfect timing on your cold - Now that you've had one, hopefully you won't be getting another one. Good luck this weekend!

From seeaprilrun on Tue, Jan 08, 2013 at 18:38:41 from 208.54.86.209

That's a wicked fast half. Wow! I'm in awe...I betcha you get it done.

From Ken Bess on Wed, Jan 09, 2013 at 11:01:50 from 174.52.144.177

When i fist read your post I saw "-34 F" and I was wondering if you were vacationing in Alaska!

Your workouts look good Joe, I think you're due for another PR.

From Rye on Wed, Jan 09, 2013 at 12:05:05 from 75.174.55.191

Ken....Alaska? Try Idaho! Sorry joe for hijacking your blog

From Ken Bess on Wed, Jan 09, 2013 at 12:08:44 from 174.52.144.177

I read it as negative 34 degrees, not as a hyphen =)

From SlowJoe on Wed, Jan 09, 2013 at 12:12:05 from 155.219.241.10

Ahh, yeah, maybe a colon from now on! Only Rye has to deal with -34F...
