63F, S 22-30 mph.  8:38 AP, probably my last run before OKC.

Weather predictions for the race:

Temperature - beautiful -- starts at 52 or so, and actually decreases throughout the day (52 is the high) due to the front.

Skies - It'll be overcast (good) but rainy (not ideal, but ok).  Like my first marathon I'll just be hoping for no lightning so they will actually have a race.

Wind - Likely 20 mph from the north.  The front is arriving right before the race and bringing some wind.  It'll probably be a good negative split day with a headwind from (roughly) miles 2-11, and a tailwind from 18-26.

I'm definitely going to hit up Wal Mart today for some throw-away clothes I can wear in the corrals.  The orange shirt must be protected until race time.

Those weather conditions actually look decent, if only it won't rain! Wind's going to be not so great, but if you get its benefit at the time you need it most, then I guess it isn't all bad!

Good luck!

Considering what it looked like a week ago this is pretty good.

When are you driving up?

Are you going to share your bib # so we call all track you? :-)

Yes, definitely leave the orange shirt untainted until race time. Strategy: the headwind is a little much, but not overwhelming. It is enough, however, that expending extra effort to overcome it in the first half and stay on pace will likely lead to depletion in the second half when it is time to enjoy the tailwind. The point: you have to stay relaxed in the first half and not fight that wind too much...even if you have to slip some 7:40 pace in there. Open up when you get the tailwind. This is definitely a negative split kind of race! I cannot wait to hear, and yes, we all need a bib # for our tracking pleasure.

Good luck, you've got lots of good advice so I won't give you any. (Good thing, since I have none.)

Thanks all, I appreciate the well-wishes and advice.

April - definitely good advice, I think you nailed it. I can definitely waste too much energy trying to hit GP into the wind.

Bib # is 299
