35F.  So, my first workout since the marathon.  I wanted to do a few LT miles, but didn't think I would be ready for a continuous run at that pace.  I was annoyingly indecisive about what to do though.  Road or track, 3 x 1 or 2 x 1.5...  Finally decided to go down to the track to avoid the hills and give me a good idea about how my marathon recovery was going.  Plus the wind was down today.  I decided that I would wait and see how the first 4 laps went before deciding on the workout.

So after 4 laps I was at 6:17 and not feeling bad, so I decided to keep going for 2 x 2400m, the next best thing to doing 3 miles continuous.  I jogged a 2-minute lap between the 2 repeats.

9:28, 9:26.  Right around my target, 6:20 pace.  Hopefully I can build up to doing 30 minutes continuous at this pace before my HM next month, once I have recovered the rest of the way from the marathon.  For now, this was a good re-introduction to running faster paces again; not too strenuous, but still got me breathing a bit.

It all sounds good. I bet you take another big step forward in your next training session.

Any of those iterations would have been a good reintroduction, but I think breaking it up into ~10 minute efforts was the best move.

Good indication that you're feeling rested and ready for training again! Nice workout.

Good workout, Joe. I really like the idea of mixing up interval distances. I am currently deciding on a interval length and number that I can then name after myself, and possibly to be run both forward and backward.

IJR - thanks, hope you are right.

Jake - it was nice having the energy to run back home from the track for once.

Andrea - hopefully it only gets better from here; I think it will...

Jason - I will be looking for your article on JasonD Repeats in the next Runner's World.
