Well - on the hottest day of the year so far I managed to get round.

4:37:23 - which i count as sub 4:30 with the delays at the start...

To you Utah guys you'll laugh at the temperatures I'm sure, but when I've been training in snow, rain and wind it is a big shock to the system running in the heat. Temperature was 23 degrees so in the sun I'm sure it was heading for 30 degrees (felt like 40!)

First 17-18 miles were comfortable and was averaging sub 10, near 9 having been severely held up in the first two miles (just with the volume of people), but the last 8 was just survival. Thankfully it clouded up for the last 4 miles so the heat wasn't as bad.

Enjoyed a lot of it but am now glad it is over.

Sasha - you should set up another blog - slowrunningblog.com :-)

Nice job on finishing the race in such difficult conditions. I was reading about the runner that died after finishing and that the paramedics treated over 5,000 runners.

Sounds hot!! Good job getting through this tough race.

Congratulations on finishing your first marathon. Although 4:37 may sound slow, I still think you have a potential for Boston qualifier. You appear to have the speed. We need 2 years of solid training to build the endurance.

Congratulations! I'll take running in the cold over the heat any time. It definitely sounds like one of those occasions where to finish is to win.

Congratulations on accomplishing your mission - finishing your first marathon! Way to go in warm and I'm sur every crowded conditions. I would bet you lost at least 20 minutes with crowds crawling at the start. Rest up, and think whether you ever want to do this again :).
