Greetings It has been a long time since I posted here - just after the London Marathon in April.

Since then I've kept my running up, but not to the extent that I should! I've done a couple of races - the Great South Run (10m) and the New Forest Half Marathon, but now everything is gearing up again for London next April.

I got so much encouragement from people on this site that I thought I would start posting again and tracking my training. I'm feeling really strong at the moment and am stepping my training back up to 4-5 runs a week. Am not really doing any significant distance as yet (the occasional 10-12 miler) but am very smooth and comfortable on the shorter runs.

My program proper starts mid-december, so the next couple of weeks is all about getting into the habit of living, breathing and sleeping running. Am also doing a postgrad OU course so it is going to be tough fitting it all in with my family life/work, etc!

nice to be back

Simon

Simon:

Welcome back! I would recommend starting today with no skipped days. Get 4 miles a day when you can. If you do not have time for 4, get in at least 2 - you can always do that by just literally running your errands and from class to class. This will make a huge difference in your fitness overtime.

Welcome back! I agree, getting those easy short runs in will pay dividends later on in training, if it is done consistently.

Hi there

the course is part time around my full-time job, plus training. Luckily they have introduce flexitime at the office, so I'm planning some sneaky afternoons off to do my long runs in Q1 next year so my family weekends are not so drastically impacted as last year. Insanely, I'm really looking forward to the training!
