Was shooting for a 6 miler, but when I went back and clocked it - it was only a 5.6.  Sure do need a garmin-hope Santa brings one. I'm looking at the new Forerunner 50- nice and small like a regular watch! All I want is to measure pace & distance, don't care about heart monitor.  I know the 50 doesn't use satelite, but that's OK w/ me if the distance & pace are fairly accurate.  Anyone used the new garmin forerunner 50 yet? Feedback?

Beautiful run this morning.  Went out around 9am.  Just me & the IPOD.  Still feeling slow & like I'm recovering from the marathon. 9:44 average pace.  Figuring how to dress for new cooler weather.  It was in the 50s so I started w/ running tights (yeah, scary looking), long. slv tech shirt, light fleece and headband.  Shed the fleece & headband after the first mile.  Was still hot in the tights.  Next time in the 50s a long slv shirt & shorts should do.

Happy I got my (almost) 6 in.  2 days in a row- that's good for me lately!

Thanks for the invite, but I think I will skip the hills tomorrow. Between my back issues and doing the 10K Saturday, I think I better sit this one out. Just a nice and easy 4 miles for me! (I'm really scared out of my mind thinking about doing Foremaster repeats, so you may never get me out for those, but a "normal" run or track workout and I'm there!)

BTW, I looked in to the Garmin 50 and it is basically just like Michelle's Ipod. You calibrate it and there is a foot piece just like hers. It sends the info to the watch rather than the Ipod. I actually think it comes with a heart rate monitor and a bike clip too. If you already have an Ipod, you might want to just get the $30 thing Michelle has rather than the $100+ Garmin?

I know nothing about Garmins or Ipods. But, I know enough to want a Garmin for Christmas. I keep saying things to myself like, "It would sure make things easier right now if I had a Garmin." I probably should start saying something outloud.

How are you feeling about Thanksgiving these days? Are you able to breathe?

Getting a garmin was hard on me at first, because I found that all my 6 mile runs were 5.4-5.6. But it is so, so helpful. I haven't heard of this $50 variety, but I would make sure that you can record laps, which is very helpful for tempos, speed, races, and is generally informative for most runs.

Be good so you don't get a lump of coal!

You are awesome for running 6. I'm considering throwing some 6 miles in a couple of days a week but I'm hesitant....My training partner just worked up to 5 a day and I don't want to tell her if I'm running more and make her feel bad..of course if I could convert her to the blog she would see all.

Course Tool on the blog (check the menu on the left when you log in) is better than Garmin if you run a fixed variety of courses. Three advantages - much more accurate, can analyze the elevation profile and give you flat pace equivalent, and free.
