Another day of improv as far as the workout was concerned.  Got to Heather's at 6:00am to be stood up (paybacks are heck).  So I went home and back to bed (I know, I know...)

I had a PT appt. at 10:00 so I decided to get to the gym early and get a few miles on the treadmill before the workout.  I only got in 2.25, then it was time to meet her.  She stood me up too! (Her daugher was sick, so she was home w/ her).  Maybe my friends and associates are trying to tell me something? (j/k.. hopefully....)  It was actually a good thing that she stood me up, I was relieved.  I'm still sore from my last workout w. her and I didn't want to be sore for the 5k on Sat.

SO- I hopped back on the treadmill.  Overall I got in 5 miles in 45 minutes- 9 min. pace.  I had a really good run (broken into 2 segments).  I didn't run a consistent pace, but did lots of strides- would go to about 8 min. miles, hold for awhile- then recover... over & over again.  The "women's" room at the gym in nice & quiet, just a few of us in there and Rachel Ray was on so it was a good distraction.  She was suprising people w/ Christmas gifts and it brought a tear to my eye.  I'm so cheezy- running & crying....

Just wanted to add a big THANK YOU to all of you who stop by my blog and leave encouragement.  Like Lybi said- even if you just say- "You ran, good"  It means the world!!! You guys are the best!!

Good job with your run today. I think I would have just given up and taken a zero for the day. Way to stick with it!Five miles in 45 is a great pace - wow!

Christi, what is your goal for the saturday race? Next races for me and Sylvia, we have two winter series, Salt Lake Track club and Stiders, total of 8 races from 5k to a 30k to get ready for the Ogden marathon. I will call these races, the more important aspect is to give a very hard effort for training purposes. For winter races, I always tell myself, give it your best, but pay no attention to the clock time as winter runs are tougher and will yeild slower times. Well, if we all get into Moab, that will be great.

Take care, be brave, be strong saturday.

Great job today! 8min miles, I am impressed. I had the same thoughts today as I struggled - running and crying. I finally had to say "there's no crying in running" and get to business.

From Lybi on Wed, Dec 05, 2007 at 15:12:44

You ran, GOOD! He he he. I'd rather run 5 miles any day than be put through a really torturous weight session. Still, sorry you got stood up--twice in one day!

Good luck on Sat.!

Good job. I was laughing that you went home and went back to bed this morning. haha. Where is your 5K Saturday? Maybe I'll come cheer you on! I don't know if I told you already, but cute picture! Let's try and hook up next week for a run...although you are going to have to start doing slow runs with me like you do with Sara!

Wow Brent- you have quite a few runs coming up! You asked what my goals are for Sat. and I was actually thinking about that on my run this morning. GOLD- would be breaking the 24:35 PR. Silver would be making my last 5k time- 25:00. Bronze would be 25:30. I really don't know what to expect for a Dec. 5k. I don't think I've ever done one! But considering the shape I'm in I won't expect Gold unless the course is really generous (downhill) and I don't know what the course is like. We'll see! Best wishes on all your upcoming races!!!
