My first 'real' test on my knee since the marathon. I climbed Big Baldy peak near Timpanogos. It is just under 9,000 feet, but looks like a small foothill next to Timp. Did over 3k elevation gain in 3.5 miles, so it was a great test. I wore my brace and used trekking poles, and on the ascent my knee felt fine, although it was a little tight and just a touch sore. The summit was COLD, but the views were fantastic. The downhill was definitely harder on my knee and I could feel a slight pain, although nothing serious. It was also a tad tight and stiff. I think the poles helped a lot. It felt really good to get out finally, and I think my knee is imporving every day. It is still not 100%, but I will just take it easy for at least another month. |
