I had a terrible nights sleep and woke up at 3:30 AM with a really bad stomachache, and I couldn't fall back asleep. I felt crappy al day with very little energy, and my stomach wasn't 'right' the whole day. I didn't feel like working out at all, but I made myself go do 5 on the TM. 9 min miles, and after I actually felt much better.

That is a monster workout and here's why. Be able to mentally push through not feeling well and lack of sleep is as good as a long run, in my opinion. It is key to being successful when you are racing, especially longer races. Great job.

Want to do a long run this Saturday? I'm thinking something around City Creek or the BST downtown. Thoughts?

From Scott Wesemann on Wed, Feb 03, 2010 at 12:06:59 from 66.239.250.209

Thanks Jun. Yeah, I have been trying to workout even when I don't feel like it, and I always seem to feel better after I do. I never regret making myself workout.

I would love to do something on Sat. 10-15 would be fun. I'm up for either of those. Do you have a preference?

You boys have fun! ARe you both signing up for Pony Express?

Glad you are feeling better Scott, runs can do that for you!

From Scott Wesemann on Wed, Feb 03, 2010 at 17:32:04 from 66.239.250.209

I have a goal this year of doing an ultra, and I would love to try the Pony Express 50, but I'm not sure if I will be ready by then. Maybe I'll try a 50k and see how I do first. If I am in good enough shape though I will sign up for sure.

Yeah, I'm going to do the 100 this year. I think Scott should do the 50. He could do it, for sure. He's got 9 months to ramp up.

Scott, do the Sapper Joe 30k to start your trail racing. It is 19 miles on a tough course. Then do the Lake Mountain 50k with me a month later or so. It isn't a race, but the perfect ultra to do for a first-timer.

From Scott Wesemann on Wed, Feb 03, 2010 at 18:25:14 from 66.239.250.209

Jun I think I will do all of the above. Are you signed up for Sapper Joe yet?

From Smooth on Thu, Feb 04, 2010 at 00:32:32 from 174.23.232.65

Sounds like you boys got something good planned!

Scotty: ("Beam me up Scotty!"...haha sorry, kidding.) What is the deal...everyone I have been talking to has had a low energy week...it must be the lull before the STORM! We are all going to be Fierce next week...We will be in fire!!! :D

From Scott Wesemann on Mon, Feb 08, 2010 at 11:39:29 from 66.239.250.209

Missy- I think it is a combination of things. I want spring to come in a bad way. Once the sun starts shining I'll be in a good mood for sure. Hope you have a great week!

From missy on Tue, Feb 09, 2010 at 15:40:48 from 71.32.195.43

Scott...I'm always telling my husband about the beginning of January and through part of February that it Looks like the Sun is Frowning at me or Mocking me..lol...It glows so distant and sad like..Can't wait for Spring! It is going to be SO good! I'm going to be all Sound of Music running through the hills and singing..lol..except not in a dress with an apron.
