Got up early this morning for a 1 ½ hour drive to the top of
Haleakala Crater. The top is at just over 10,000 feet. We walked around a
little bit checking out the views from on top of the world….awesome! I started
running from there. I ended up running 12 ½ miles downhill. (7:28 average pace) In that
distance it dropped just under 4,000 feet. I never pushed it, just wanted to
enjoy the run. I stopped for a break after 7.65 miles and took the left shoe
off to let in cool down. I could feel a hotspot where I had one of my blisters
on Tuesday. I then finished off the run when my wife was driving down the road
from her hiking with her sister. I could have gone much farther because I was
really enjoying the run but thought it was better not to push it too hard and
let the feet keep healing. I am glad that I did. Just looked at my splits for the run. I liked how these went. I was trying for minimal effort and consistency. 7:51/ 7:45/ 7:41/ 7:40/ 7:38/ 7:33/ 7:24/ 7:34/ 7:12/ 7:04/ 7:18/ 7:12/ 7:03
After we got back from some window shopping and lunch I went
to the beach and ran barefoot for about 1 ½ miles to cap off the day of
running….now it is Luau time baby!
Asics-Nimbus Miles: 12.50
