I ran the Top of Utah Marathon in 4:43 after having my third child the year before. 5 K in 24:19, 10 K in 53 minutes pregnant. Survived personal training from my lovable but slightly overbearing husband Sasha for more than 8 years!!

Short-Term Running Goals:

Break 23:45 in the 5k.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Stay thin and full of energy.

Not be an embarassment to my family full of world class athletes.

Personal:

Madly in love with Sasha. We have been married since 1996 and have been blessed with seven of the most adorable and talented children : Benjamin, Jennifer, Julia, and Joseph, Jacob, William and Stephen.

All of our children have run in at least one race, including Jacob and William who did it inside the womb. I enjoy various non-running activities such as: baking, sewing, playing organ, piano and flute, painting, and playing with our  vivacious children.

Uneventful 2 miles!! I ddn't fall or almost die in a car crash or lose a child (that happened last week too..in Costco!)  thank goodness for uneventful days!!

good run after Sabbath day rest...I love Sunday and then I love Monday because I can be up and doing things again!!  My kids are in a theater class now that is going to put on a production of Annie.  They auditioned yesterday and we are waiting to hear if they got the parts they wanted!

Stevie turns 5 months old tomorrow and I'm still running 2..my goal is to be back to 3 by 6 months 4 by 8 months and 5 by 10 months.  The biggest factor is sleep and I think nursing really does suck me dry..pun totally intended.

lol! I remember feeling like a milk truck that had been hijacked ;) I loved nursing, but it really did require so much energy :) Hang tight. I am amazed at how much we can give and still have more to give, albeit VERY tiredly ;) ..and sometimes with a very faint smile, bordering on a grimace ;)

2.5 felt good today..even though it was only 19 outside I was sweating.  Non-runners ask me how I run outside when it's cold..I've never really had a problem with my lungs hurting...guess I'm lucky.

run went okay but I think I'm going to die from a toothache I have...the dentist said there were no new cavities but sent me home with antibiotics...praying that they work!!

I've handled bumping up to 2.5 okay..I know it doesn't seem like it should be hard but you've never taken care of my family in my body..so don't judge...

We are going to California next week so I probably won't blog at all...will try and run but not sure how that's going to happen..it's going to be a crazy intense week.  Sasha is the funniest guy on the planet...he can't stand traveling without me.  He basically quit his other job because they had madatory exotic trips..montreal canada..cancun..tough life. :)

I'm going to go ahead and go to three a day...see how that feels for a while. My goal again was to be at 3 by 6 months 4 by 8 months 5 by 10 months and then....another baby?  not sure what heaven has in store for us but we are open to whatever comes our way. Sasha has a lot of faith and I'm trying to. :)

really good run today. It's good balance to have a good day after some tough times.  My time got messed up a little but the 1.5 back was great...14:23.stinkin fast for me and it felt great!!  I think my time on the way out was about 15:10..I usually go slower on the first part due to warm up and it's uphill. ...so it averages out to a little faster 10:00 pace....that's my target training pace for now.

crashed again last week..ahhh...had to cut the miles a little. Guess I'm getting old.  Three felt okay today but I went slow. 31:33. Sasha was very sweet on Saturday after I told him how tired I was making myself. He took all the children shopping in the morning...answered my every beck and call all day AND took us out for dinner that night...

not sure on the time but I ran pretty fast today. Sasha thinks my adrenal glands are shutting down in the afternoon.  I feel really tired all day...I have faith that if I try resting a little in the morning after breakfast that my day will go better.

I've had a hard time adjusting to three but I'm determined to make it work..it's time..I know it is..I just need to rest a little more during the day for the next couple of weeks.

So I've been resting for 15 min in the morning after my run and after I eat breakfast.  It has so far gotten rid of the day time fatigue problems I was having!!!  Also today I got a really good time....for me.  29:21  15:04 on the first half....

tired day  31:16 was all I could do. I'm aiming for 30:00 about on my normal training days and faster on Wednesdays.  Resting in the morning after runs is helping but my body is retarded and can't adjust to daylight savings time.  I can't fall asleep right away when it's not bedtime!! this too shall pass :)

I've run 3 miles every day for the last monoth...the fatigue during the day is slowly getting better and my times are improving.

I've decided to enter in the lds church art contest this year.  With hopes of making a work of art people will look at and 1. Be inspired to improve their testimony 2. Cherish motherhood and 3.  go.huh...what did she mean by that?  

 

I am not a trained artist but Sasha and I think I should develop my artistic talents..this contest will give me the motivation I need to finish something.

My watch got messed up a little again today so I didn't end up timing it....I can't run 30 minutes yet and not get tired during the day...it's depressing...

Do you not get tired during the day if you don't run? You've certainly got enough to keep you busy and wear you out aside from running.

Hi Mommy. Just catching up on you. I remember this kind of exhaustion from when we were running before and after Will was born. It was frustrating for you because you were always so tired, deathly tired. You are so busy I'll bet you can't even remember those days, but I do. You even had some thyroid medicine or homeopathic thyroid help .... you were desperate then. What I remember most was that it took you almost a full year to get back to yourself. Remember a few months had passed until I saw you again on the trail; remember how great you looked, and said you felt? It was probably July or August (for Will born in October). The nursing, the sleeping, the family, the everything you do takes lots of energy....energy well spent for your family. I think it's great you keep on keeping on at your own pace at energy level. You'll get back to feeling more normal I'm sure...but from what I remember of the last go-round it was 9-10 months before you were on top again. I don't know if that helps you feel better or worse, I just mean to say it's a matter of time and the older we get, the harder it is to bounce back. That's just the way it is.

I do remember being tired..hard to forget..what a good friend you are to remember!! :) I felt pretty good after Stevie..until I started running 3 miles a day and wearing a watch..then..bam..mommy needs a morning nap! And I hate naps!!

After William I thought maybe my thyroid was off. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism 6 years ago so I just thought my medicine needing tweaking. Now I don't think that's what it is..maybe just getting worn out after years of not sleeping right and my body needs more time to heal before I can pump up the miles. Thanks for thinking of me.

BTW..we are looking to buy a bigger house..still somewhere near the trail. Maybe we'll end up in your old stake. :)

I love the area, I hope you can find a bigger house that would be so great for your growing family. But the houses in that area don't have basements....just keep that in mind. There were always lots for sale on 370 N in the Mike Klauck homes, maybe now you could get a cheap lot. I miss the river trail like a family member died. It's a great area. Glad to see you're still plugging along. I've been taking Floridix, but this time in combination with cholorphyll and I can't believe how much better I feel. I don't think you're anemic, but I was pleased to stop feeling like death. I'm sure that in a few months you'll be back to your olds self. XOXO

We did find a cheap lot...only 60 K and they are accepting all offers. But no basements...uh oh..that may mess up my ultimate new plan to build a huge house with a huge basement in it..is it because they are near the river?

I am not anemic..just thryoid stuff but mostly it's the sleep deprevation that kills me. I'm so glad you found something that works for you!

wow..I'm really slacking on my blogging!!!  I am starting to feel less tired during the day and am thinking about going up to 4 next week. I think the game plan is to just rest for the first two weeks of adding mileage and not overdo during the day....kind of have that tendency of being supermom, housecleaner, teacher, cook, and fashion designer on the side. :)

my times are getting faster too...yay!  I've been sub 30:00 all this week with 29:22 today.

Can I blog April all at once.  Stevie keeps me up at nights so I have to sleep in a little and then it cuts into my free time in the morning before I need to be teacher/mommy.  I ran 3 miles all month and got to the point last week where running sub 30 min on my runs was FINALLY easy ..didn't need to rest during the day and could work and play the way I wanted to...good stuff.  And..that was with a baby teething and waking me up ALL night long...can't imagine what I'd be able to do on sleep.  :)  

Today I tried 4..well..I probably ran more like 3.9 or so ..couldn't remember the turn around. My time was 40:24..maybe should have been more like 42:00 for 4 real miles...

Well the good news is that in the past four days Stevie has actually slept twice..not last night but the night before.  I'm so grumpy though..I just can't be cheerful when I get woken up so much!!  Anyway..I feel okay despite the sleep problems.  I think I'm on 4 every day...I'm handling it better than 3 because my times were already okay.  I was still being SUPER post baby lazy when I switched to 3.  So....41:45 today..40:15 yesterday..I'll hope for sub 40 in the next couple of weeks.  I'm playing the organ on Sunday..yikes..yikes. The Easter hymns are hard and I didn't really get enough notice!

Emergency mode this week. My 4 year old Jacob broke his leg..not just a hairline. ..separated with fragments...I'm of course exhausted and even running a mile is spending...surviving...

good run..Jacob is doing much better. Those first few days were so hard..hard to watch him in pain..hard to feel so bad for him. He is cheerful now and mending. :)

I just looked back to see what happened with Jacob. I'm glad he is doing better.

I think that 4 under 40 is great. I'm always glad when I manage an average pace under 10:00.

Sasha helped me figure out ..with help of the scale that I'm bench pressing 100 pounds when I do a push up..he's only doing 80 because of different center of mass.

Congratulations on being up to 10 man push ups! That's great! It seems like not too long ago you could only do a couple, if I'm remembering right.

I think I was headed for sub 39 today but my watch got messed up when I stopped to talk to a neighbor..Sasha always laughs at that.

So my leg has been feeling terribly for a long time..starting to feel better with Sasha massaging it at night and some strength exercises he prescribed.  Thank you honey!!!!!

I am so bad at blogging now...I guess that's what 7 kids does to you...He sleeps in the room with the computer so that makes it hard to blog. I have to wait until he's awake and then well..life gets busy.  I have a running partner!  My old visiting teaching partner who was the most amazing partner ever.  She is 56 and can keep up with me!!! Sasha thinks she has some natural talent....

I totatlly need to repent of not blogging in FOREVER.  We have had an interesting year this year....1 broken leg, 1 seriously smashed finger..1 stapled head..2 calls to 911 and most recently 1 child hit by a car in a parking lot (he's just bumped up and scared but okay)  My mom says it's because I have a lot of little boys but I'm feeling like we should just hibernate for the rest of the year.

This was the first race I've run since well..last year.  I've done alot of tempo runs. This was an okay time for several reasons.  

1.  William had a febral seizure last night and turned blue at the lips..had to call 911.  

2.  I was up all night watching over William.

3.  I have had a hard time recovering from Stephen and just barely got back into semi-decent shape(for me) 

I ran the first 2 miles in 16:10...then the sleep deprivation set in and I jogged mile 3 in about 8:53..then I finished somewhat strong in 8:20...hard..but not as hard as last year when the baby was much smaller..I have progressed.

I really need to get back into blogging....hope those of you who use this service appreciate the time and effort Sasha put into it to get it started..we love having you around!!!

Lybi!!!! Good to hear from you. We are great. We are in the home that we made an offer on that same awful night before the race. The realtor had an appt with us and came around the same time the paramedics were leaving..we still did the paperwork for the offer because there was only a small window to make an offer on this house and I wanted it so badly. How are you..if you come to Provo again you are welcome to stay with us again. We have a full basement apt which makes staying with us nice...

Sasha, It's been a while since I have blogged my runs...but I have a question for you:

The Spanish Fork Track Club (for youth) practices at a time that doesn't work for our family. My daughter Alexis is 9 years old and my son Luke will turn 8 yrs. at the end of June. What options do I have for getting them involved? Hawk Harper told me to check out usatf's website, but I've found myself at a loss as to what direction to take. They don't seem to have a club in the Spanish Fork area. Do they have to be associated with or part of a club to participate in meets? Any suggestions or information would truly be appreciated! Hope the Pachev's are doing well. Tell Sarah hi for me.
