I ran the Top of Utah Marathon in 4:43 after having my third child the year before. 5 K in 24:19, 10 K in 53 minutes pregnant. Survived personal training from my lovable but slightly overbearing husband Sasha for more than 8 years!!
Short-Term Running Goals:
Break 23:45 in the 5k.
Long-Term Running Goals:
Stay thin and full of energy.
Not be an embarassment to my family full of world class athletes.
Personal:
Madly in love with Sasha. We have been married since 1996 and have been blessed with seven of the most adorable and talented children : Benjamin, Jennifer, Julia, and Joseph, Jacob, William and Stephen.
All of our children have run in at least one race, including Jacob and William who did it inside the womb. I enjoy various non-running activities such as: baking, sewing, playing organ, piano and flute, painting, and playing with our vivacious children.
ARGGHHH! More insomnia..I guess running two was a bad idea yesterday...I also took it easy and didn't go anywhere...so then my body says...Tired..your not tired...you need to work more woman!!!
I am so sorry for the lack of sleep. It makes life so hard. I honestly feel like I have not had a good nights sleep in 16 years. Kids make sleeping difficult, as well as everything else on a mom's plate! Try to get a nap and take care of yourself and your knee!
Thanks for the sympathy...it really helps me feel a little less sorry for myself. wow..so you don't think you've slept in 16 years...I can't imagine what you'd be capable of if you did sleep...maybe the Olympics. You must have a lot of natural running talent to be able to run as fast as you do and function for as well for your family as you do. Can I ask you to ask Scott a question for me? My little Joseph wants to be a police man when he grows up. He also recently stopped sucking his thumb and he wants to go on a tour of the police station and tell the policemen that he doesn't suck his thumb anymore. It's so darling. Do they do tours for school groups? (I homeschool and could get a group together of other school age children) Or if they don't would Scott mind us calling him and letting Joseph tell a real policeman that he doesn't suck his thumb anymore?
My kids are not the greatest sleepers and I am a very LIGHT sleeper. Everything wakes me up. It stinks, but after this long, I am used to it! I usually run races on NO sleep (like not even a wink) because I get so stressed and excited. I, too, would like to see what would happen if I could sleep! But it is my lot in life and I have accepted it.
I know all of the police departments around here will do tours, so I would think that they would down there, too. I know that Scott would be happy to do a tour of the police academy if you wanted to drive to Sandy (it is just off of the freeway in the area of South Town Mall---but on the other side of the freeway). Let us know what you find out, and, if all else fails, he can call Scott! That is a cute story, really cute!!!
I think coming out to Sandy would be a great little field trip. Should I e-mail him on his account? Sasha wants to come too! ;) It's nice to know a cop because I was kind of shy about setting up the tour with someone I didn't know.
Even though I'm a good girl and law abiding citizen I always get nervous around cops...you never know if they are nice or if they are having a good day.
Did you read about the time I was having contractions one morning and Sasha had to come and get me in the car? A cop was out looking for teenagers disturbing the peace and while I was standing there in pain he was shining his lights on us and bugging the heck out of me..like he thought I might be one of the teenagers!!
Tell Joseph congratulations on giving up the thumb sucking! That is quite the accomplishment for a little guy.
