Personal:

I decided to join to hold myself accountable for my training and because I love learning from others running experiences.  I just started running a little over a year ago and have a lot to learn.  I work fulltime as a Manager of Telecommunications for Intermountain Healthcare and go to school online through Weber State University.  If you want to know more check out my blog: www.runningfortrevor.blogspot.com

First time in such a long time that my alarm did not go off and I did not naturally wake up.  I finally woke up when I noticed there was light outside....6:50am  Glad I'm tapering! :)

7 miles on my favorite orchard loop.  I threw in some strides to test out the hamstring and everything felt okay as long as I kept it controlled and my form in check.  My hamstring only bothers me when I sprint and overstride which I shouldn't be doing anyway.

I will likely jump in on the 5k tomorrow.  For $15 I think it is worth a good workout (even if it is just a tempo) and I am confident that I am smart enough to reel things in at the first sign of pain.  The marathon is the goal race and the 5k is just a tune up to stay sharp.

PM:  jogged for 10 min with Izzy.  Such a nice night!

Good plan for tomorrow. Avoid an all-out sprint at the gun and finish line and you'll likely be just fine.

Good luck! I would say "run fast!" but we all know you're gonna do just that...

Julie - My PR is 19:35 (net downhill course Provo City in May). The course looks fairly flat. I read Tara's report from last year and it sounds like there are a few small hills in the first 2 miles and then the last mi has some gradual downhill. I paced 6:16 at Sugar House Park so I really should be able to break that pace on a flat course. But we will just see and I'm not putting any pressure on myself...I've done enough stressing over the marathon and don't need to stress about a dumb 5k!

BTW - Holly Haggerman (masters runner) has won the 5k the past 3 years. Do you know her? Pretty freaking impressive to be running 18 min flat 5ks as a master runner!

ummmmm excuse me but did i just read that you are pacing the PROVO city halloween MARATHON on October 27th?????? the 3:30???? HELLLLLL----0!!! like is the first half uphill to the half start????

From Rachelle on Fri, Sep 07, 2012 at 15:11:24 from 199.190.170.22

haha I need to talk to Walter because I need to get myself out of that engagement. I am going to trade with Skip for 3:45 where I will feel much more comfortable. But to answer your question no it starts at the same place as the half and then basically just winds around Provo Canyon. I'm still not 100% on pacing it. We'll see how I feel after TOU!

sounds like a partial reverse utah valley marathon which is sick and wrong after all that downhill!!

From Teena Marie on Fri, Sep 07, 2012 at 17:52:57 from 71.35.246.187

Hope to see you tomorrow!!! :) :) :)

Also ... look for Sophia and my hubby! Sophia will be easy to spot because she is so stinkin' cute and small!!! Her and my hubby (Ry) are running the 5K. I am going to run the Half (not sure if I am going to run or race yet ... just depends on how my foot feels). :)

Have a GREAT evening! :)
