Since I've slacked off on my long run of the week for the past few weeks, I decided to get my long run done right off the bat! So, today I ran out on the river trail for 45 minutes and back. Ran into Vanessa with about 35 minutes to go, so we ran together back to the trail head and to the base of the first dam hill, where she turned back to go to her car. It was so fun to run with her, she is one of my favorite former teammates. Probably my very favorite. The run was hard by the end, but I am glad I got the death run out of the way!

Did a nice easy run with Kaylee, Kim, Justine and Vanessa. Went out by the temple and onto the canyon road for a ways, then back. Took it pretty easy, just talked and enjoyed the team. Did my 3x15s strides at the end, yesterday too! I am trying to to all of the stuff coach asked me this week. It is hard!

In the afternoon, I ran up to the field house and did the drill and circuit workout. Haven't done that in a couple weeks and my legs are feeling it, big time.

Legs feeling pretty dang sore today. Didn't feel much like running, so I headed up to the BST to pep me up a bit. While I was up there, I did my 5x30s pushes. They were good for the most part! The weeds whipping my legs made them pretty itchy though. Hopefully my soreness will abate in the near future.

Ran to work, got my paycheck, ran to the bank, deposited it and ran home. It was like 4 in the afternoon and it was only like 85 degrees!! Logan in the summer is oh-so-nice. Ran in my new shoes for the first time, yay new shoes. (K3 4.5)

Warmed up a bit trying to get a way to the start line and in stashing my stuff in Justine's car. Felt pretty crappy, went to bed pretty late and got only 4 hours of sleep. Legs were overall just feeling stiff and lame, so I was quite certain, even before starting, that today's race was going to be long and pain-filled.

And I was absolutely right! Got my legs going with Justine for the first mile, then joined forces with Allie for the next couple miles. She dropped me like I was hot at mile 3 and I was on my own for that mile. Then I thought a friend of mine was about to pass me, so I didn't let him for most of that mile and then realized it was a total stranger. So we ran together for almost the rest of the race - we both had a similar, 1 hour goal in mind and it's nice to have somebody to push you. His name was John. We pushed alright through miles 4, 5 and 6, then 7 came with that freaking hill and he dropped back a bit. When I got to the top, I felt like I was doing 10:00 miles at 5:00 mile effort. It was pathetic. Even when my legs started to feel like legs again, they were pretty thoroughly out of juice, so the last descent into Hyrum was a welcome relief. I tried so freaking hard to push it in and get that 60 minute mark, but alas, my legs had done all they would. Sad day. Still, it was better in some ways to not finish way under the hour because then I would've had to add extra to finish my 60 minute RFD for the workout today.

Cooled down about a mile with Allie and Nan, my legs were pretty thoroughly worn out by then. After a panicked hour of trying to find a ride back up to Justine's car to get my keys to my car, I finally got on my way and barely managed to make it to work on time. Then I worked a 13 hour shift and wanted to die. Yay life!

Overall the run was... painful. I never really got into a comfortable groove, my legs just weren't recovered and ready for that kind of a beating yet, I don't think. I feel like I still have a long way to go to be back where I was last summer. Next week I'm hoping to hit 55-60 miles and do everything on coach's email checklist. (K3 15.8)
