Basically a lot of mixed feelings today. I really don't feel like I ran as good of a race as I could've, I was totally unfocused during the race and it really felt like a practice, not a race, since I wasn't really racing anyone. I feel happy, kind of, since I'm region champ, but the second time it doesn't feel quite as cool, especially when there's no competition and I didn't run as fast as I'd hoped. Shucks. And it's really disappointing that our team didn't even qualify for State, especially because we were SO close. Dixie scored 37, SC was 41 and we got 42. AAAARRGH! Looks like I'll be starting in the 'loner box' at state again, just like my sophomore year. Woo hoo. (DST 244.5) (DD spike 28)

So, I am a whiner. Time to list the good things about today: I got to sleep in 'til 10:00 am since we had no school today! I'm Region Champ! I PR-ed for the first time all year! Our boys totally OWNED their race! Of the 4 races, 3 individual champions and 3 team champions were from PV! Yeah! Next year our girls will be awesome (our JV team totally crushed the rest)! And mom made me a steak for dinner!

Too bad about your team, I know it is funner (er, more fun) to run with a team. But you PR'ed and kicked butt. And not being focused today is fine, since you still won. State is the race that really counts for you!

Good job Ruthie. I was proud of you! You ran a good race and you can't complain about a PR, especially when you are all alone. You looked strong and seem to be racing well. You are ready for state and I know you will do amazing!

Way to run today, and congrats! State will be tough to win, but you have a good shot. Get focused and don't take it out too hard with Krystal Harper, run your race though.

I'll see you next week.

Ruthie

We have always had trouble in Logan differentiating between 2 main runs- one is a paved, flat course running along the Logan river and golf course in the middle of town, the other is the dirt trail running along the Logan river at the mouth of Logan canyon. Both were often called the river trail.

This summer, the city of Logan put up planet plaques on the golf course trail (i.e. the sun is at the start, mercury is 10 meters away, jupiter is 600 meters away, neptune is 1609 meters away). We dubbed this run "planet walk" and the other trail is now the only "river trail". Easy to tell apart, now. Cody was confused by this at first, too, until he ran it. Then he understood.

Long answer to a short question.

I'm upset they didn't put Pluto on the trail, though.
