Busy day today, so I got out at about 3:45 and did my workout late. Ran the warmup, stretched and ran out toward the river trail for 4x1mile tempos with 1:00 jog recovery (GP 6:20) on the trail. Felt pretty sore and tired, but they went reasonably well and felt satisfying after a particularly frustrating day at state math and school s&e. Times were 6:17, 6:19, 6:13 and 6:16. In the middle of #3, I got the most killer sideache, but after about a quarter mile of trying to breathe right, it mostly went away. Other than that, it always surprises me how much easier the second two feel, since it looks like the way back is slightly uphill. After, I ran slowly back to the school and finished up s&e. Got a few blisters from today's run- not so fun. (DS2 470.8)

Found out that I missed the school record in the 3200m by .31 seconds - Shucks. But I'll get it next time!

When did you start considering USU? Steve Reader is one of the best coaches around! I'll be looking for some good things out of you this track season. Good luck, and good workout today.

When I realized how much more out-of-state tuition is. Not my first choice, but if finances don't work out, it's my fallback plan. How do you know Coach Reader? I've been wondering about their track and xc programs.

I did some of my student teaching with Steve Reader. Plus, I was thinking about running at USU before I got hurt at UVSC. Their programs are as good as BYU's or Weber's or better. They have some great talent and the coaches are very good. Steve Reader, in my opinion, is the best coach around for developing runners. He has taken decent runners like Trever Ball and Seth Wold and made them into champions. You should get in contact with him and tell him you might have some interest. Also, USU is a great inexpensive school and Logan rocks!

I wouldn't go as far as to say "Logan rocks!" but...

No kidding! logan feel like rocks in the winter! can't say it is as good a program as BYU. But i hear it is good!

Seriously James, that is REALLY pushing it. ;)

From James on Thu, Mar 20, 2008 at 12:15:35

You're right! Logan is a terrible place to live and USU sucks! And Seth Wold, Trever Ball, Mike Nielson,Mitch Zundell, and Dave Danley don't hold a candle to anyone that runs for BYU! And they especially don't compare to the locals in St. George.
