AM-I'm just counting today's run as fast miles because I ran with Ross Decker the whole way and that's fast. My miles were 6:48, 6:40, 6:46, 6:42, 6:44 and the last .83 was 5:22 (6:27/mi pace). At 3.7 or so, I stopped for a one minute breather, since Decker was wearing me out. I really need new shoes, my arches were sore almost the whole run. After, we stretched lots, so maybe I won't be so sore tomorrow.

PM-Since in the WBR, you have to run 3 legs within a day or so, I decided to do a bit of two-a-days to get me used to running on fatigued legs. I ran out on the trail to St. James and around back to my house - 3.18 miles total, my goal was to keep my pace under 8:00 and I succeeded (avg 7:43/mi), though it was pretty tough. Lately, my left knee has been bugging me like it did during the track season and during this run it hurt the whole way, so I'm going to ice it and such. XC conditioning/practice starts tomorrow!

Good running today Ruth! Sorry if my dad wore you out, he does that to me all the time. Hurry and get some new shoes!

Ruth,

We (Marathon GIS)start at 5:00pm with BYU, Weber, Runners Corner, and some other team. We probably won't catch your team for a long time, maybe not until Saturday morning.

I am doing 12, 24, and 36. I did the same legs last year, except I had to do 11, 23, and 35 before because we did an Ultra team with six guys. This year my first leg is climbing up Snow Basin and is new to the relay, but the other two I did last year.

We will keep our eyes open for your team at major exchanges though, sometimes you run into people there. Also my wife is volunteering at the starting line from 7am-12pm and I might hang out some there in the morning. Clyde and Dustin from St. George are on our team so you will recognize them. Come say hi, because I am not too good with faces from the Blog pictures and might not recognize you.

Too bad you had to go and run again so I didn't beat your miles for the day! That would be a one timer. When do you guys practice for XC? I guess Holt took a nasty fall on Saturday, so you'll have to ask him about it. I guess I will be the "driver" for Clyde's car at WBR so hopefully we will run in to you there. I hope you guys beat the PV boys! Sorry Decker!

By the way, when you and Green are going to check out the new uniforms, let me know so I can see if Kelsee wants to meet with you too.

Ruth - keep your easy runs at around 8:30 pace. When you want to show class to Ross Decker (no more than twice a week), approach it as a race. If he is going 6:40, up it to 6:20 or so, you should be able to hold this for up to 5 miles. Based on his recent race performances, 6:40 on the flat should be just about as fast as he'd be willing to go without letting a young woman running next to him see he is in pain. At 6:20 he should be hurting bad enough to where you will see it, maybe that will make him stop bluffing, and he'll start running his true easy pace (7:45-8:00) with you.
