5:00 am.  I did something really nutty yesterday after my 1/2 marathon PR on the treadmill.  I'm going to Anaheim this weekend for a 2 week conference, excited to start my training schedule in a nice warm place :)  Anyway, I saw that there is the LA 1/2 marathon this Sunday so just for fun I went to the sign up page but it said it was sold out.  Not leaving good enough alone I then went to the 5K sign up page which wasn't sold out, in the 5K page I noticed that it gave me the option to select signing up for either the 5K or the 1/2 marathon.  This sparked my curiosity and sure enough I found a loophole in the system.  So, it looks like I'm running a sea level 1/2 marathon this weekend.

(If you know my wife, (this means you Carina)) don't tell her.  She would kill me if she found out I'm running a 1/2 marathon on Sunday when I'm suppose to be working.  But I figure I'll be done with the race by 8:30 and be back for work before I'm even missed.

Back to today, I tried to take it easy, but I really struggle running slower on the treadmill.  I started out trying to keep my HR at or below 140 but after 3 miles I gave up and started running faster.  Still a recovery, but I may need to replace recovery runs with swimming during my schedule just to insure I truly do recover, even at the risk of lower total miles.
