That looks like the spot where I had pain. I got custom orthotics and haven't had pain since.

If you don't already have custom orthotics, you may want to look into getting some. They saved me from daily, endless pain.

After reading your blog I called a few of my PT friends. Dang Achilles!!! Those babies are tough to treat! (As you are well aware.)

They each had a few of their own suggestions, but there was a lot of consensus as well. Likely stuff you are already doing (ART, cross friction massage, eccentric exercises, etc.). Of course, some of these things can cause more damage when done improperly or under certain conditions where the irritation would actually prevent healing.

In other words, DANG ACHILLES!!!

I am so sorry that you are still dealing with this.

Sigh.

Mine has been flamin' for two weeks now. I blame it on worn down shoes, absolutely no more cushion, the Halloween half vertical grade, and guy pushups straining my achille in order to hold myself in place. It calmed down today with the use of new shoes but I can still feel it creaking and it is sore to touch. I would think you have tried the changing of shoes also try going slower for a bit and ice therapy. Maybe a WHOLE week off of exercise. Sorry no quick fixes known.

Ryandla just had surgery due to some achilles issue...not sure what (or that you'd really need surgery) but worth a shot in the dark...

Haven't checked on you in awhile. I don't have anything to offer but, I do know how it is to lived with pain everyday dragging on into months and it is no fun. So sorry.

Paul, Do you wear orthotics? Mine seem to work for me, but I have other issues.

Meaning- other issues that the orthotics seem to correct.

Fly, my orthotics work for me as well.
