I was looking at the FIRST 16 week marathon plan that I want to follow for TOU last night and decided I needed to get started, so I am adapting the plan and turning all off their workouts into ArcTraining workouts.  This morning called for 20 min warmup with 3x1600m with 1 min rest intervals and then a cool down.  I warmed up for 20 mins on the ArcTrainer then went as hard as I could go for 7 mins followed by 1 min rest interval and repeated 3 times then a cool down.  It was not running, but it is as close as I can get without running.  I plan on modifying all the FIRST schedule to ArcTraining until my foot is better.  I'll try and do some easy running in between when my foot feels good.  It will be like the opposite of the FIRST program.  My running will be on the X-training days and my ArcTraining will be on the running days.  Heck if it works, I'll be able to write a new marathon training plan.  : )

Hey Rhett, that sounds like a great plan. It's got to be better than pool running all the time. I'm excited to hear how it turns out.

You are so disciplined.

Hey, sounds like a plan lots of "rehabing" runners would buy it. Teena ought to look into that. I'm thinking about following the FIRST program myself in two weeks after WBRelay to train for SGM. One of my long runs will be Park City. It might take some getting used to with running just 3 days.

Be careful on your "reverse" X-training days, play it by ear and listen to what the foot tells ya. I think it might very well work. GOOD LUCK! I'm excited to see how it goes for ya.

Rhett,

That is a FANTASTIC GENIUS idea!!! Hmmmm ... I'm going to print out that training schedule now and do something similar. Probably with the elliptical though. There are arc trainers at the gym ... maybe one of these days I will give them a try. Elliptical is just convenient because I have one at home.

Okay ... going to look into it.

Stinkin' genius I tell you!!! :)

I think you are on to something there! You will be running in no time at all!

What's up with this new login thing before I make a comment?

Teena, I don't know how genius it is, but I am a bit sore (my legs, not my foot) from yesterdays speed work on the Arc Trainer. I had to do something to get me in the mindset of training for TOU.

From DonGardinero on Wed, Jun 03, 2009 at 17:59:43 from 75.162.169.112

Yeah, what's up with the login thing? I don't like it. Now it won't let me leave comments while I'm at work. I can still read them, just can't leave comments. Me no likey.

From Smooth on Wed, Jun 03, 2009 at 18:12:05 from 71.36.64.213

I think Sasha wants to make sure no "bandit" commenting?

Dale, I think the work computer needs to have Firefox to "browse" the blog for the login box to show up.

Rhett, sore legs from speed work the next day is a good sign, isn't it? That means your legs are getting stronger. You have the right mindset going. Keep it up. Your foot will let you run soon.

I'm checking to see if I can leave a comment

It worked!!! Cool.
