Boy was it a beautiful evening. I made it to the track a little after 5. It was about 60 degrees sunny and no wind. The sun was starting to set over the lake as I began my warm up mile. I did 5 one mile repeats followed by .25 mile recovery laps then as I did my cool down mile the sun finally set over the mountains that sit next to the lake. It was a great night for some speed work. Here are my mile splits.

1-5:54

2-5:55

3-5:54

4-5:54

5-5:52

I'd have to say this was my best mile repeat workout ever. Now I need to recover a bit for Painter's. I'm trying not to do too much of a taper since this is supposed to just be part of my Boston training, but I will do a mild taper by not cross training and cutting my long run this Sat. to 10 miles.

Oh Rhett, those are incredible paces, like ELITE paces!!! You keep getting better and better.

Wow Rhett not only are you the Pull-up king your are the repeat king! Way to go!

I have never run on a track is it as boring as a treadmill?

From rhett on Thu, Jan 08, 2009 at 22:37:37

The track is worse than the treadmill, but it provides to perfect setting for speed work, so I am trying to make myself go once every other week. At least on the treadmill, I have a TV in front of me.

BEAUTIFUL in all aspects! That has got to feel good! PERFECT consistent mile repeats, SWEET paces! Look at that 5:52, what a STRONG performance! AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!! Thanks for sharing this incredible run.

Be sure to line up at the front in Painter's. It'd be sweet to see you break the tape. You're so ready for this tune-up race leading to Boston.

Dale, LOL I wish I could run like an elite. They probably do their mile repeats sub 4:30.

Smooth, thanks for the vote of confidence, but I'm sure there will be many a runner faster than I am at Painter's. I'm just running against myself trying to prepare for the best Boston possible.
