MORNING

Full body weights followed by 30 min eliptical

I'm going to start trying to do 2 workouts a day until Christmas.  It will be my way of avoiding the holiday weight gain.

EVENING

30 mins of pleometric jumps.  Felt good to do explosive leg exercises.

Wow, Rhett!!! That's a good idea.

From Kathie on Tue, Dec 02, 2008 at 12:34:09

I am with you there! What I might do is just walk on the treadmill every time I watch TV rather than just siting there. This will make it harder to snack too.

From Teena on Tue, Dec 02, 2008 at 12:44:58

Hmmm ... I like it. Maybe I will start doing two workouts also. Wouldn't be smart for me to add more running, but perhaps biking, elliptical, and core/upperbody stuff would work.

Look what a good example you are Rhett!!

From Rhett on Tue, Dec 02, 2008 at 13:08:18

Like Teena, I don't think I'll run twice in the same day. I like Kathie's idea of walking while watching TV. I think I will do some pleometric jump training at night while I watch TV. Last night I just went to the gym and did the eliptical for my second workout of the day.

From Teena on Tue, Dec 02, 2008 at 13:11:00

Pleometic jump training? What in the world is that?

From Kathie on Tue, Dec 02, 2008 at 13:14:37

Plyometric jumping.... I think that is a fancy way to say skipping or maybe boys just don't want to say they skip!

From Teena on Tue, Dec 02, 2008 at 13:17:09

Right on Kathie!!

LOVE IT!!

From Rhett on Tue, Dec 02, 2008 at 13:18:06

Runner's World had a big article on it a few years ago and I find when I do it my overall running gets better. Here is a website that basically explains it.

oops

that's www.sport-fitness-advisor.com/pleometricexercises.html

From Rhett on Tue, Dec 02, 2008 at 13:22:23

Ok that didn't work either. Just google pleometic jumps and it will pull up. I am computer stupid and can't figure out how to get the website on here properly

From Teena on Tue, Dec 02, 2008 at 13:25:00

You're funny!!

From Rhett on Tue, Dec 02, 2008 at 13:37:32

Yes there is some skipping like jumps that you do, but they build the glute and qaud muscles nicely without weight training.

From Teena on Tue, Dec 02, 2008 at 13:38:39

So what you are saying is that you are trying to develope your glute? Why am I laughing right now? So not appropriate of a lady!

From huans32 on Tue, Dec 02, 2008 at 14:35:27

LOL I have been toying with the idea of doing 2 a days again. Mornings doing strenth training and evenings run. Great goal Rhett.

From Smooth on Tue, Dec 02, 2008 at 16:29:43

COOL!!! Rhett, you have such great training strategies. First, the mind game, now the two a day workout. GOOD stuff. What are you going to do AFTER Christmas? Do you plan to train the same way you did, the TWO WEEKS program you shared in the forum?

From Rhett on Tue, Dec 02, 2008 at 16:34:50

Smooth, yes, after the New Year I'll start into that two week training program. I am mostly following it now, just with a few more creative runs here and there. And then I'm doing the second workout till Christmas. You may ask what is up with the week between Christmas and New Years. I'm not sure, but it will probably be an easy week for me.

From Smooth on Tue, Dec 02, 2008 at 16:54:35

Rhett, good planning. I always go skiing and party with the family the week between Christmas and New Year. I like your idea in avoiding the holiday weight gain.

From RivertonPaul on Wed, Dec 03, 2008 at 10:36:35

My holiday weight gain has already begun. Sounds like you have a good plan.

From fly on the wall on Wed, Dec 03, 2008 at 18:27:11

Rhett, I remember that article, but not well. So I just cut and pasted "pleometic jumps" into Google and the link at the top of the list is to some web page called "Rhett" at "rhett.fastrunningblog.com Yeah I figured it out, but thought my route to plyometric jumps was funny.

From Rhett on Thu, Dec 04, 2008 at 10:48:23

Fly, I guess not being able to spell made me famous on the Google search. I'm the only one who ever spelled it that way on the internet I guess. LOL

From RivertonPaul on Thu, Dec 04, 2008 at 11:19:51

I wasn't going to say anything, but since you brought it up . . .

From Rhett on Thu, Dec 04, 2008 at 12:22:38

Hi Paul, how have you been? Are you still doing all those classes or are you back to mostly running?
