MORNING

This morning I headed to the gym for a full body workout. I am feeling pretty lean lately, but my weight is still at 160. I was thinking that maybe I've been doing to much heavy upper body work for a marathon runner, so I decided to do my lower body workout like normal with abs and lower back work, but then instead of doing my normal upper body work I just did pull ups and pushups. Maybe I won't bulk up as much doing that and can loose a few more pounds. I really want to make a serious run at going sub 3 at Boston this year and every pound will count. After my resistance work I did a hard 30 mins on the eliptical. Felt great!

EVENING

30 mins low intensity plyometrics.  Didn't want to over do it since I'm going 15 miles bright and early tomorrow.

You should be fine doing everything. Just keep the reps up and weights lighter. It is all good. Great work out.

Rhett...

I agree with Mark-O. What is your goal weight for Boston? What was your time last year?

Last year I ran 3:15 at Boston and weighed 155. I'd like to get closer down around 150 for Boston, so I'm pushing hard right now so I can begin my training at the lighter weight. I've found it hard to loose weight while training hard. I have to eat in order to do the tough workouts.

Yea, you say you don't want to bulk up but we all know you have started to take our little contest more serious. This is the true reason you limited yourself to what... push-ups and pull-ups!

From Rhett on Fri, Dec 12, 2008 at 13:44:06

You got me Kathie. I was just going to do push ups, but then I decide I should keep doing my pull ups so I can WIN!!!!!

From Smooth on Fri, Dec 12, 2008 at 17:57:42

To WIN you must try Kathie's strategy: stop eating = weight loss = less to pull youself up = more pull ups!!!
