I went to the gym a little later than normal this morning and all the TMs were being used by old people walking at a pace that they could walk around their living rooms.  I tried not to get frustrated and jumped on the clunky arc trainer for some warm up.  After about 15 minutes a TM opened up so I quickly claimed it.

Since I'm doing a cut back week I decided to do just 3 x 1 mile repeats at a faster pace than I have been doing 6 with a 3 minute walkd recovery between each.  Oh yeah, at my usual 1% incline.

mile 1 @ 6:00

mile 2@ 5:56

mile 3@ 5:52

1.4 mile cool down @ 8:00 for a total run of 5 miles

I was suprised how easy this workout felt.  Even on the last mile, I was only at about 90% effort.  This gives me a little confidence that I may be ready for a good 5K this Sat.

Wow!!!! Super speedy!!! You are going to kill that 5K

From Mack on Wed, Nov 18, 2009 at 13:55:08 from 71.111.182.118

I know what you mean about the frustration of all TM's being used by people walking sloooowly. The good thing though is that those people are usually done a few minutes after they start.

You are fast! I can't wait to read your race report on Saturday!

OMG!!! THOSE ARE SUPER FAST MILE REPEATS!!! I am sure you will beat Cap'n Underpants' last 5K's time!!! Go get'em and win it this time!!! We're all rooting for ya!

OH YEAH!!! Look at those splits!!! And they kept getting faster and faster. Rest up well and you will nail that 5k. I can't wait to read the report.:) Your going to do awesome. What is your 5k Pr?

From Rhett on Wed, Nov 18, 2009 at 16:19:12 from 74.42.168.210

Mark, my 5K PR is this race last year @ 18:59. It is a brutal course and the only one I have ever raced a 5K on in the last 5 years. I'm pretty confident I could go 18:30 or faster on a flat course. Some day I'll just have to go somewhere flat and run a hard 5K on my own and see what I can do.

From Huans32 on Wed, Nov 18, 2009 at 16:53:07 from 138.64.2.76

Oh your going to tear up the course man. I really love how each one of those mile repeats were faster. Your going to do awesome.

From Burt on Wed, Nov 18, 2009 at 17:44:23 from 12.231.112.98

After you cranked out those smokin' fast miles did you go up to the senior citizens, put your thumbs in the chest of your shirt, and show them that Rhett is King?

From Rhett on Wed, Nov 18, 2009 at 18:24:18 from 74.42.168.210

Yeah Burt, I jumped off the TM and started talking smack to the blue hairs, telling them to start running or go home. NOT!!!!!

:) too funny Rhett!
