Completed a dozen marathons and a handful of 50 mile ultras.
Short-Term Running Goals:
Consistent aerobic and strength training.
Long-Term Running Goals:
Participate in 5k and 10k races.
Personal:
I started more dedicated running and racing in my thirties. Eventually I developed symptomatic bradycardia and SVT which required a cardiac pacemaker implant and a cardiac cath ablation. It has taken a long time to get back to running consistently again. Counting my blessings and trying to remain more balanced with fitness.

Legs were still sore, can't believe how much I hit these on Monday. All is good once I start running though, but not so good when I have to pick up something off the ground. Some faster pace during second run.

Read recently about the benefits of squats for running. I need to do more stuff like that. I'm sure it will pay off for you.

Yes, I do them for injury prevention. Dead lifts are also good. Problem is if u go too deep in the sets or reps then running can suffer for days afterward because of fatigue. Still trying to find the right balance and I need to show more restraint. You are right, they should pay off as we age.
