Completed a dozen marathons and a handful of 50 mile ultras.

Consistent aerobic and strength training.

Participate in 5k and 10k races.
Personal:
I started more dedicated running and racing in my thirties. Eventually I developed symptomatic bradycardia and SVT which required a cardiac pacemaker implant and a cardiac cath ablation. It has taken a long time to get back to running consistently again. Counting my blessings and trying to remain more balanced with fitness.

Easy 4 mi. Off to Carlton, MN tomorrow (6 hr drive). Both excited and overwhelmed by trying to complete a 50 mile jaunt. Whatever comes of it, the race will be one hell of a training run for my Oct. marathon.

Good luck! I don't know that I would have the guts to even attempt a 50 miler. Looking forward to hearing about it.
