Completed a dozen marathons and a handful of 50 mile ultras.
Short-Term Running Goals:
Consistent aerobic and strength training.
Long-Term Running Goals:
Participate in 5k and 10k races.
Personal:
I started more dedicated running and racing in my thirties. Eventually I developed symptomatic bradycardia and SVT which required a cardiac pacemaker implant and a cardiac cath ablation. It has taken a long time to get back to running consistently again. Counting my blessings and trying to remain more balanced with fitness.

Yes, I do feel good about how I did in the race. Of course, I'm always hard on myself so now I'm thinking about what a bum I am for not landing a job yet, getting let go in the first place, etc. I was raised to feel that it's never good enough. Just like St. Paul had a thorn, so do I in a constant battle of self destruction tendencies of sorts. Sorry for dumping this on you, but I like to tell it straight.

Hang in there my friend. Sometimes it is hard to understand God's plan, but it always becomes clear. Remember this wasn't something you did bad (you didn't get fired) but instead you are a casuality of the current times. You will rebound and come back stronger!

Robert,
Just remember that God's in control and these things can be used to develop perseverance and character. Paul definitely recognized weaknesses in his own life to help rely on God's strength. I agree with Jeff- hang in there and you'll come through even stronger. ("Dump" on a preacher and you'll usually get a mini-sermon in return)
Meanwhile, I'll be happy to keep your 20k pace in my 5k tomorrow night!
