track and band practice field. 2 mile warmup five fingers. 5000 m  tempo in shoes on track, 20:08, 6:30 pace. 2 mile cooldown five fingers, using a loop spanning track and band practice field (grass). five fingers are more comfortable on grass than on track, or a gravel trail like river trail. I will probably stick to grass and track with them from here on.

Scott - Good summary of the barefooting thing. I need to sign up with Barefoot Ted's blog too!

I've just about put 75 miles on the 5 fingers on a variety of surfaces from road to trails to sandy beaches. At first pavement and rocky trails felt the hardest, especially pavement. Now they feel fine. Grass and sand are really nice but now I can run on the road without any real discomfort. I've been wearing the injinji socks for a bit of extra support but w/o socks is starting to feel good as well, even on the pavement.

The worst surface is mud because they don't have much traction there....
