2.7 easy, no problems

2 x 20 horizontal leg press with 55 pounds. yeah that is nothing but I am not looking to bulk up

2 x 20 foot rasies with 55 pounds on the horizontal leg press

played on stationary and spinner bikes a little. I am thinking of following the FIRST program of training for awhile, maybe even for a marathon. I am pretty sure the high mileage stuff is not my gig.

Glad you were able to run a few miles today.

thanks Paul, foot and shin feel pretty good, but just going to take it easy for awhile to play it safe, keep doing the PT exercises and stretches. I am planning on going with more cross training too, I downloaded all the FIRST training programs, I am intrigued by that approach. Hope the enbrel is working well and I can catch up and run with you guys sometime soon.

I looked over the FIRST marathon program. Not a bad approach. 1 day speed, 1 day tempo, 1 day distance. Cross-train or easy miles the other days. Good theory. The question is whether it is easier on your body (injuries-wise) to drop the mileage and do this program, but add a huge stress by making the long run so much more volume-wise than the rest of the week. Those are some tough long-runs too as all are near MP for the whole thing. I have a VERY hard time approaching my MP for more than a few miles of the long run. Those will be very stressing runs. but with the reduced mileage you should recover easier. Interesting. I do forsee a fuel shortage issue too as your body will be accostumed to hour long workouts and not used to 2+ hours of running.

But if it means you can race a marathon without getting injured, ti is worth it, right?

Glad you were able to run with no issues today!

Cody, yeah, I have the same concerns/questions about that first thing, but find it intriguing. I am going to play it by ear, if my foot keeps giving me trouble I am going to give it a shot. What I like is how all the runs are pretty fast- I hate grinding out slow easy runs, I like the idea of three quality runs. But who knows.

Hey- my brother turns 50 this year so I will probably go run BB with him as he lives in Boulder- thought I would get him a FRB singlet for his birthday. Do I just order it from the St george running company or something? I need one too- but must be sure I can wear it worthily..... don't want to embarrass the blog and our sponsors...
