first day of interval running since last November and I was as rusty and out of shape as I expected 4x 0.5 miles and 4 x 0.25 miles with recoveries, on the street. I ran about 20-25 seconds slower on a per mile pace than I can do when training for a 10K so I definitely have some work to do. Results were:

0.51 miles, 5:48 pace
0.50 miles, 5:43 pace
0.51 miles, 5:44 pace
0.52 miles 5:43 pace
0.26 miles 5:26 pace
0.26 miles 5:46 pace
0.26 miles 5:28 pace
0.26 miles 5:45 pace

2.6 miles warmup, 2.5 miles cooldown.

Did something to my inside left foot when I fell skiing Saturday and it is bugging me with a dull aching pain, especially on turns/lateral movement. I may have to take a day or two off and rest it... I checked with my coach, trainer, and sports  Dr. Paul and he provided sage and prompt advice as always, for the usual price. Will get it looked at if it doesn't improve.

Solid intervals! Listen to your body and rest the foot a bit, better to not aggrevate it for training.

And the advice is worth exactly what you paid for it...

Jeff, thanks, in my paranoid mindset now I am reluctant to take the time off but in the long run you are right, I will probably be better off resting it. Will see how it feels tomorrow..

Paul- I keep waiting for the coaching bills to show up in the mail but maybe you got my address wrong.

How do you keep track with such precision? - I have a Garmin 305 but can barely read it without glasses, i.e., when I'm running and have no idea how to program it! You either have someway of doing this automatically or you have an excellent memory, or both!

David, you've got a 305? I only have a 205. I will show you how to set the different screens and review your laps sometime, you need to be taking advantage of all that technology in that little sucker, its powerful and easy!

From rocinante on Thu, Feb 26, 2009 at 11:30:45 from 129.123.67.241

Scott, yes I got a 305 in Spain because I lost my 205 and they didn't have a 205 in stock. Don't use the hrm. I guess I should read the manual!

Hope the foot is improving...
