Are you a cross training rooster or a cross-training rooster? Or possibly a cross cross-training rooster....

I am thinking of becoming a cross dressing cross training cross in the lab rooster!

Curious sartorial proclivities aside, I just ordered a pair of these - they are made in the UK.
Terra Plana
(hope the link works but if not they are the Terra Plana Aquas reviewed in the link I have over on my blog to barefootrunner.com)

David, the terra plana looks like a great shoe, I checked the review and website. But geez they are expensive. The other thing that kind of bugged me about them is the implication on their website that parts of the foot are linked to wellness of body organs- see the picture in lower left where they show the points of the foot linked to bladder, eyes, tonsils, sinuses, etc:

Man, I hate that hocus pocus nonsense, you'd think they would know better. oh well- let me know if the shoe hits those pressure points and cures all your ailments, then we;ll know the magic works!!

Scott,
I hadn't noticed that but, yeah, that puts me off too. There is a lot of this alternative medicine type of stuff in the UK. I was mainly going off the review at barefootrunner.com. They are expensive but I am looking for some lightweight shoes to do the pilgrimage to Santiago in. The Nikes are just not up to it and to go without a backup for the Fives is just asking for trouble. I might even have to haul my Keen Wasatchs along as a 2nd backup - they are super comfortable but a long way from the concept of barefoot. I'd hate to embark on a 250 mile walk and get blisters or something after 10 miles. Plus with a backpack (albeit 15 pounds or less) I'm not sure how barefoot/Fives etc would hold up.
I'm a bit put off by the thickness of the sole, that they point up at the front and that they are bit heavy (comparatively). But the fact that the reviewer recommended them is reassuring because I think he does a good job - e..g., his review of the Fives.
I ordered the black ones though - the white ones look way too nerdy.

the shoes look really nice even if they arent magic- I will see if I can pick up a pair on ebay cheap!
I think those new balance Jason was talking about might be a great trail hiking shoe- I actually ordered a pair, found them on clearance on Nordstroms web site for 44 dollars.

I was thinking the same about the New Balances - maybe they would be good in winter too. I really can't see running to Smithfield and back in Five Fingers when it's 15 degrees!
