No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.

8:30am

I set out to see how many laps around Oakbrook I could do at 9:00 min pace. It just seemed way to easy at that pace so I did 8ish instead, I was sure I could still do at least 5 until I got about half way through the 4th. I thought about slowing down and doing the 5th one, but decided to stop instead and give my legs a rest. Next week I'm going to try keeping a steady 8:30 pace from the start and see if the 5th or maybe 6th lap seems like a better idea.

42 miles in 2 days? Dude! That's a lot of miles! I think I ticked you off by telling you our mileage to date was similar. Now you are making a big move to distance yourself from us mortals!

From rAtTLeTrAp on Mon, May 12, 2014 at 15:00:28 from 71.227.240.61

Do you mean the "mortals" that smoked me in Boston? :)

Long slow distance for a couple weeks. That 50 miler is gonna be a tough one.

According to your "Running Accomplishments" list, this will be the greatest distance you've ever attempted. Best of luck to you, man. 26.2 is more than plenty for me!

Thanks. I'll need a little luck to pull this one off. I think the second half is going to be mostly in my head if I can stay healthy. My support team is pretty thin for this event so I'm still kind of on the fence. I don't want to feel like I shouldn't be out there when the going gets tough.

And here I'm struggling with 7 miles. I've got to find some friends who are less than "mortal" like me!
